Canada has the sexy chicks.

We have sexy chicks too, Ataldeath!

Seriously though- I don't think anybody needs to worry about anybody getting 'insulted' about this, it's not a competition. I like that the question was brought up, I learned a few things too. But if there's one thing i want to drive home, is that we Americans, sexy melting pot that we are, can hold our own with any country! Ataldeath you better recognize, lol!

Wow. You seem like someone that would probably have some interesting things to say on the gun thread.

Wrong, Ataldeath! American brings the sexy just as much as any other country!

Seriously though, no need for anyone to get sensitive or insulted (or delete posts) here- it's not a competition really, and it was good to hear some of the differences that I never was taught at school. I learned a few things.

I do just want to drive home the point to Ataldeath that we have quite the sexy little melting pot here in the USA- you best recognize it!

It's hot- but no reason to kill anybody over it, Mastermind4U- put down your (2nd amendment rights guaranteed) gun and join the party.
I like Canada. As a general rule I like Canadians as well. Lady X has got me feeling all patriotic, though...

As an outsider of both, but an observer of both I would have to say i would most like to travel to the US, to experience a different way of living the western culture. But if i had to move Id want to live in Canada, different enough but with enough of the same core values.

tuppence added!

Here, here.

Hey! I know that girl. In 2003 she sent me about 200 photos of herself, while trying to chat me up for 3 months. heheh, or maybe she/he was just pulling my leg?
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
Well, in the Netherlands both prostitution and weed are legal.

As for hot women....

We don't need pictures of half naked women or men to know we have the better looking homo sapiens.

Pitting one country against another is rather insulting.

I'm proud to be an American. Nuff said.
I agree!

I saw that on a T-shirt somewhere.

In terms of safety, social values, laid back attitudes, etc. Well, it's not like I've ever been to either country, I just saw recently Bowling for Columbine and got a bit surprised. People in Toronto dont lock their doors? No homeless people? Those teenage guys saying that the best way to get even with someboy was "tease them", instead of shooting them? (which unfortunately happens quite often in the USA)

etc

SO, what are the reasons of this Canada/USA contrast? (if Canada really is such a rich peaceful place, which I dont know)

PS, by the way, it's not only Bowling for Columbine, I often hear good opinions about Canada, and I just read an article ranking Calgary number one on living standards in America. (America the continent), and Toronto and Vancouver were close.

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/story/2010/05/26/calgary-eco-quality-living-water-air-pollution-mercer.html?ref=rss

Why is Canada better than the USA? - is that really the question?? We are all normally patriotic to our homeland unless we have chosen to adopt a new one. There are always going to be .... this place has great ____ and that one sucks .....

btw - the article states in its opening line:
Calgary is the world's top eco-city, with better water and less traffic congestion than hundreds of international cities, according to a global consulting company.
I think ECO-CITY was the real angle of the article.

they then listed:

Top eco-cities

1. Calgary.
2. Honolulu.
3. Ottawa/Helsinki.
4. Wellington, New Zealand.

Top quality of living

1. Vienna.
2. Zurich.
3. Geneva.
4. Vancouver/Auckland.

So don't think that it is "better" than the other ... besides nationality means very little to me. It's your heart that will impress me more!

You kill people in other countries?

He was making fun I think... it's a spin off of a line from the movie Full Metal Jacket

Here's the actual line...

I wanted to see exotic Vietnam... the crown jewel of Southeast Asia. I wanted to meet interesting and stimulating people of an ancient culture... and kill them.

It was bold statement about America's decadence. The character was saying it to an army journalist to show that the war, for America, wasn't about freedom or democracy. That it was wasn't to be glorified and it was a very ugly blemish on humanity and American history. IMHO

And french history it was the french after all that got the Vietnam war going Also gotta include the Russians and Chinese in on it. Everyone always wants to blame the US for that war it wasn't our war to begin with we stuck our nose where it didn't belong back then. Ok off my soap box for now. Side bar no disrespect t those that served back then I have the greatest respect for you all.

I don't get it...
how people can get offended by someone saying their country is better than the other.
Sure be patriots all you want, but to the extent of feeling insulted? You think it's even worth the energy wasted on it?
You're an American, not America.
You sure you really want to stand for all the dung a country puts out to the rest of the world?

Well, I must confess I deliberately used the term "better" to spice things up, and get more answers... nothing like a flashy header to get peoples attention.

Lame trick, I know, but the subject asked for radical actions.

You may have wanted to just "spice things up" as you say but trying to pit one country against the other especially two as passionate as The U.S. and our great neighbor and friend to the North is uncool man

The word better was placed there to make the whole thing more direct and vivid, but was no lie.

Many people people say Canada is a better country in terms of security, social values, and laid back attitudes.

The USA and Canada share the same language, the same culture, the same history, so why is Canada better than the USA in those social aspects?

Just asking.

No we don't.
I haven't quite figured out why this topic hasn't been locked , or removed.
I suppose it is just a slower ticking bomb getting ready to go off.

As ChefK said we don't share the same language first off more speak French up there sure a lot speak English to

Bud you still aren't gonna change my mind I love my country for all it's good parts and for our faults but the good out way that if you ask me and me personally I don't think one country is better than the other.

Here is food for thought for everyone if a country is "better" than America then why the hell is it when ever there is some kind of problem going on some place in the world every just about comes to us for help?

And I will still say this pitting one country against the other to which one is better is not cool that you aren't gonna change my mind on and to me the US will always be better because it is where I was born it's where I will die why? because it is my home plain and simple you have your views on it I have mine. Also nother thing if need be I would get up stand by her and defend my country if I had to. That is how much I love my country nuff said

The same history? Not really...

How is Canadian culture better than the United States? How is any culture "better" than another? Kind of an odd question.

Something we both agree on
I totally know why Canada is so much better! If no one is going to mind some language, ITS BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A RUNNING THEIR COUNTRY! With that being said, maybe we all understand the disadvantage of having our current Uncle Sam in the throne seat. Just thought I'd put my two cents worth in.
How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being?
