1976. I was 16 she was 22. My mother kept this copy of this magazine around for years. My imagination removed the bra from under that sweater over and over again. I had access to Playboy and even a couple of issues of Penthouse, but to my twisted adolescent libido this was the sexiest thing I had ever seen...

And it took me an hour of Internet searching to find this image. Thanks to "Docteur Ralph" for posting on Pinterest.

Great post, Steve. Thanks for sharing.

I've never had a crush on a celebrity, but I think my first awareness of women as attractive in a new way was elicited by Samantha from Bewitched.

I think the contrast between her American girl next door sweetness and the true darkness and power she secretly harbored had a lot to do with her appeal.

Angelina Jolie

Yes, "By The Sea"---she's so pretty that it hurts the heart to look.

But, her eyes are too far apart, Knight.

Good stuff, Luca. It was a fine line that production balanced upon. Left it upon us...and at circa the children like us, well me couldn't imagine "true darkness" and (secretly harbored power) that you accurately cite.

Maybe I'm a bit dense, but who is that?

She looked quite a bit different a little later on. Here she looks like the girl next door, not a supermodel yet.

Just to show how geeky I really am, another early celebrity crush was UK actress Katy Manning or, more precisely, Jo Grant, the character she portrayed for two years on Doctor Who. Jo was the second companion of the third regeneration of The Doctor, played by Jon Pertwee.

I was delighted to hear that Katy returned to the role of Jo Grant on television in an episode of the Doctor Who spinoff The Sarah Jane Adventures, where she got to meet her successor, Sarah Jane Smith (played by the late Elisabeth Sladen) and the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith).

I can tell you who the last one was: Lili Taylor.

This was odd for a couple of reasons. First, I was fifty at that point, which is far too old for that kind of thing.

Also, some people think she's a good actress, but I'm not that impressed with her talent. One role where she had some juice was as Valerie Solanas in I Shot Andy Warhol She was particular bad in The Haunting, but the whole movie sucked.

As far as I can tell from interviews and such, she seems very personable as her real self.

The first was Faye Dunaway as Bonnie Parker. The first I saw of her was the Time Magazine cover of December, 1967. The view was from the front though the windshield of a car. There she was, driving the getaway car through a hot Depression afternoon. (I also had a thing for old cars then.)

I tried to find out as much about the movie as I could, although I wouldn't see it for another five years. No matter, there was a ton of publicity about it. It just kept getting better. She also had her own guns and she knew how to use them. Yes, she was a criminal - but Bonnie was smart, competent, cool under pressure, rather witty and brave - her physical courage was impressive. She was also loyal to Clyde, and he in turn did appreciate all of her strong qualities.

So there I was, twelve years old, and I was thinking, "This is my kind of woman!" (I loved her berets too.)

P.S. Dunaway was also very good in her later roles.
