Scarlett Johanson as Black Widow, Rhonda Rousey if they let her play Captain Marvel, Jennifer Lawrence (as Katniss or Mistique) and of course Emma Watson as Hermione Granger!
In my opinion, Scarlett made for a very poor black widow. She might be a decent actress and a bit of eye candy, but there's nothing intriguing about her character. I would've expected a more intimidating, mysterious beauty without the thick American accent to portray the seductive Natasha Romanova. Perhaps Eva Geeen.
Jolie on the other hand excels in almost every lead role she takes on. Always a delight to watch.
While this hasn't been released yet, I can't wait to see Gal Gadot in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, I think she owned her part in Dawn of Justice and will do well in her own movie (hopefully)
Hm, good question. Most female leads are not in action movies, so I've chosen those I consider the most "kick-ass" (hence no Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's", although she's worth it).
• In "action" movies:
- The Bride, in Tarantino's "Kill Bill". Played by Uma Thurman.
- Princess Mononoke (San), in Hayao Miyasaki's "Princess Mononoke". Voiced by Yuriko Ishida in japanese or Tara Charendoff in english.
- Lady Vengeance, in Chan-Woo Park's "Lady Vengeance". Played by Yeong-ae Lee.
- Katniss Everdeen, in Gary Ross' "Hunger Games". Played by Jennifer Lawrence.
- Ripley, in Ridley Scott's "Alien". Played by Sigourney Weaver.
• Non-action movies:
- Raimunda, in Pedro Almodovar's "Volver". Played by Penelope Cruz.
- Hayley Stark, in David Slade's "Hard Candy". Played by Ellen Page.
- Maggie Fitzgerald, in Clint Eastwood's "Million Dollar Baby". Played by Hillary Swank
- La Marquise de Merteuil, in Stephen Frears' "Dangerous Liaisons". Played by Glenn Close.
- Catherine Tramell, in Paul Verhoeven's "Basic Instinct". Played by Sharon Stone
Many, many more are worth mentions.
Cortney Palm in "Sushi Girl"
Sharon Stone in "Basic Instinct"
Soledad Miranda in "Vampyros Lesbos"
Sigourney Weaver in "Alien"
Uma Thurman in "Kill Bill"
Scarlett Johansson in "Lucy"
Eva Green in "Sin City"
Kaya Scodelario in "Tiger House"
Megan Fox in "Jennifer's Body"
Felissa Rose in "Sleepaway Camp"
Katharine Isabelle in "Ginger Snaps"
Most of the above are on my list too, but I'll add these:
Miranda Otto as Eowyn in Lord of the Rings
Summer Glau as River Tam in Serenity
Eva Green as Artemisia and
Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo in 300: Rise of Empire
and my favorite of all, though in a TV series, not a movie:
Sarah Michelle Geller as Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, and (honorable mention):
Eliza Dushku as Faith LeHane, in BtVS
Also~

I have three famous stories, 2 recommended reads and have come in the top ten in two competitions~ Come in and make yourself at home.
Chloe Grace Moretz as Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass
Kate Beckinsale - Underworld
pam grier in foxy brown and geena davis in the long kiss good night.
Jennifer Jason Leigh in Single White Female.
Anjelina Jolie - Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life
Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley in the Aliens movies is definitely #1
Eva Green in Sin City: A Dame To Die For (plus she constantly shows her tits throughout the movie.) I love that movie!
Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor in The Terminator
Frances McDormand as Marge Gunderson in Fargo (she was GREAT!)
Many others, but those stand out to me. I know I'll think of more later...
Big-haired Bitch/Personality Hire
Meryl Streep as Clara del Valle in House of Flying Spirits, which is based on one of my favorite books. Although I was disappointed to see all of that rich Chilean culture white-washed in the film version, Meryl Streep did justice to the portrayal of one of my favorite characters from the book.
Not exactly an ass-kicking role, but definitely powerful in its own right.
And of course there are all the obvious roles in the action-packed films that I could list all night...
[s]And also Callisto in her role in 'Which Improvements or Features Would You Like to See Added?'[/s]
