I have posted several stories on Lushstories. The few people who have read and voted on my stories, seem to like them and give them a relatively high score. But the stories get few votes in relation to the number of times they are read. I can only assume that the stories need more of something, but what? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunately, that's just the way it goes on this site. Having looked quickly over the number of ratings your stories have gotten and their average scores, I wouldn't say you have much to worry about. In fact, your sequels have done better than a lot of others seem to.
The best way to improve your writing is to read lots of other stories and decide what you like and what you don't like. For great examples of popular writing, read stories by some of the most established writers like Sprite and Jaymal.
We can't force people to vote, but don't be disheartened. I find one really lovely comment can really spur me on to some of my best work.
EDIT: You also have three followers, so you're doing something right. Just persevere and more and more people will take an interest in your work. Category can have a bearing on the size of your readership, too. If you're looking for gratification, it was a good idea to start in .

Generally, only about 1 in 100 people who read a story actually vote...the percentages tend to be higher in certain categories, notably love stories and poems...

clum's got alot of good points, and I'm gonna emphasize the learn by example one. One of the best things a person can do as a writer is read alot. It exposes you to many kinds of voices, many kinds of techniques, and you may find yourself picking up alot of it through osmosis.
Another thing you can do is get an avatar. Say wut?! Avatar. People with no pictures feel like fly-by-night-ers, anonymous strangers who aren't here to stay. I know that doesn't mean their work will suck, but I've known alot of people (and myself) who have a tendency to avoid people with no avatars. There's a difference between being a blur in the crowd to being a person with a presence, and the difference can make itself known in views and more of an inclination for people to read your work. Writers these days have to market themselves to get readers.
If you think your writing needs work, one of THE BEST things you can do for yourself is get some writing friends or friends who are also enthusiastic about the subject you write about. I've got two friends with me on who I bounce ideas off of, and when I finish writing a piece, we have a story night where one of them will read it for us. It's insanely helpful to hear someone read your work out loud, especially if they're reading it cold (i.e without having looked at it first). It's better than reading it out loud yourself.
