Well I work for the Fire Department but my job is more like firefighter/hazardous materials technician/confined space rescue/swiftwater rescue/ vehicle extrication technician/wildland firefighter/whatever else happens to come along!
I wear so many hats I almost forget what I'm paid to do!
I've done many things succesfully, cleaning offices, bread baker, delivery driver, furniture salesman and I've even been a soldier. After that I've been Information Systems Designer, change manager, test manager, project manager. I didn't like being a manager though, because it took me away from the creative process, so in the end I chose to be simply a software engineer, a programmer+ so to speak, and I was damn good too. Until mainframes became obsolete and at the same time my family became a bit larger. I decided to be a stay at home dad. Have been that for the past eight years now, and I don't regret it.
A little kindness can be so valuable, yet costs almost nothing
In many countries being gay is a crime, and even in modern societies, politicians try to legalise discrimination. Your voice can make a difference. Have a look at All Out to find out how.
Hey... pssst.... that's an l (as in luscious) at the end of my name, not an i
I'm retired now, - best job of all, - but worked for the Post Office all my life, Boy Messenger, Postman, Counter Clerk, behind the scenes writing duties, ending as a junior manager.
