My friend pulled a muscle(s) in her back a couple weeks ago while packing and moving.

asprin/ibruprofen/tylenol etc, heat, cold, elevation all is not doing it and she doesn't want to go to a doctor.

So does anyone know of or tried some unconventional treatment that maybe you or someone has learned from some shammen or voodoo priestesses or such beyond things like epsoms salt and soaking and stuff like that? Some kind of polstice? Boiled bark tea? You know, something non traditional.
Yeah, a good sleeping pill and a friend to take you to the doctor.

yeah yeah i know but she is in england so a little too far away for me to make her go

and anytime she has gone to any of their hospitals she has come away with infections and sometimes worse off than when she got there
yeah she has

now we are looking for non traditional, unconventional stuff
Alternative medicines have been tried by various peoples for thousands of years....

The stuff that actually worked is what we now call medicine...

LOL! xx S

Hope your friend gets better soon!)

Ultra-sound therapy and a bone-cracking Chiro
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
Could try acupuncture - tell her to go to a Chinese medicine / massage place, they normally have a guy inhouse who can turn you into a pin cushion.

I'd suggest a chiro too, a few crunches and you're all good.
There's probably a doctor house-call service in her area. That way the doctor can visit her at home and she can avoid the hospital.

She needs a doctor who can write her a script for an anti-inflammatory like Naproxen and probably some Tylenol 3 with codeine for the pain. Likely, with rest and meds this is something that may take 3-4 weeks to heal completely. Unless it's something more serious like a slipped disc herniation in which case, she will definitely need proper medical intervention anyway.

Continue on with some kind of "Icy Hot" menthol rub and bath soaks when possible.

There are no herbal cures that will work beyond some kind of placebo effect. Keeping hydrated is important, and in terms of non-medical suggestions, that's the only one that I can think of that has any real value.

She needs the real drugs... call something like "Med Visit" and get those prescriptions sooner than later.
I don't know of any doctors in the US who make house calls, but I agree with what Dancing_Doll just said otherwise. Don't waste money on things that don't work. If you have a real injury see a real doctor.
The reviews are in. Here's what people are saying about FicklePickleTickle:

"Pickle juice rocks!" - curiousbutterfly.
"Pickles is really a jalapeño" - sw33tang3l
"Will someone make that guy sit down, my kids can't see the movie?!?" - Some guy in at the theater.
"Shouldn't he be wearing clothes if he's going to be in the wedding?" - Your mom.
"If FTP Eats A Pickle, Is That Cannibalism? " Nikki703
"FTP makes me wet. . ." - imhapless.
"Always thought he was dill but he's actually a sweet pickle." - kinkygirl.
Since Amber's profile says New Mexico, I am assuming that her friend lives in the US. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

[Edit: Oops. I noticed the post above where she said where her friend lives. Silly me. silly ]

Ahhh, back pain. The holy grail for snake oil salesmen.

Here are a few pieces of advice.

1) Don't look for a quick fix. Anyone who promises such is either a swindler or an idiot...( usually both).

2) There is absolutely no need to go to the hospital or even go to your family doctor (unless you are looking for some better drugs). Family doctors ( general practicioners) have very little knowledge of orthopedic injuries.

3) There is no damage to the muscles. The muscles simply are going into spasm as a protective response to increased movement at one or more of the spinal levels. Most treatments for low back pain are aimed at reducing muscle spasm, but will not adress the underlying cause. These include massage, acupuncture, heat, medications electrothermal modalities etc...

4) Keep moving! The worst thing to do is to engage in excessive bedrest. Immobility results in atrophy of the muscles that support the spine and a subsequent vicious cycle of weakening and pain. Even though it might be uncomfortable to move, it will not do any damage. Exercise based treatment has been proven to be the most effective means of treating and preventing lumbar injury.

5) Don't listen to WMM when it comes to health advice.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Thank you doll. That was very much appreciated finding that for her.

And thank you everyone for your suggestions as well. I will be getting it all to her later today.

If you knew the medical conditions she has seen, you would understand her reluctance to go anywhere for treatment. Not to mention the months long waiting lists for anything non life threatening procedures.

What was she packing and moving??? Tell her not to try to go through every move in the Kama Sutra in one session...

Actually, I really can't think of any good remedy right now...if I think of something later, I'll get back to you...

Lush Erotica, an Anthology of Award Winning Sex Stories
NAPROXEN. Two in the morning, preferably prescribed which means higher dose than store brands, then two at night, in between, stretch it. Yes, it will hurt, but stretch it. My back goes out all the time, years of construction work without proper support.

If that don't do it, go back to your doc.
Where in her back? Upper or lower, i'm guessing lower. Soak in epsom salt. Get her a massage.... they may not be able to do anything if it's skeletal, i.e. ruptured disk. But if its muscular they may be able to release a spasm or tirgger point. It won't be pleasan but it could help. And like some other said.. stretch. There is a fine line between resting too much and doing too much. She's got to find that middle ground.

This may sound strange but have her strectch her ab muscles too. What people don't realize is that often times lower back pain is caused by a pull or spasm to the muscles on the anterior of the spine. Deep in the abdomen. Getting that muscles to release could do the trick. Not easy or pleasant to have massaged. But think of your spine like a radio tower antenna. There are guide wires all around to keep it up, if one line is pulled much tigher than the others bending it more to one side than the others, it will put extra/unnecessary tension and strain on them all. Easing lower back pain is about relieving the tension in all the muscles that work it.. not just the ones about your ass.

One ibruprofen and two tylenol at the same time work for me and time helps healing. I've had some serious use and abuse to my spine and backside. Never went to the doc for it and felt pain off and on for various injuries but luckily they have all healed and the pain is gone like a miracle. Also, extra body weight can hurt the healing process. There are foods described as beneficial in the "Eat Right For Your Blood Type" books. I live by this study in diet. I'm pretty sure all the muscle, tissue and bone problems I've experienced in my life has been cured because of it. : )
Torture the data long enough and they will confess to anything.

LMFAO, yeah...just ask on the internet for anything related to your health concerns. There's always an altruistic Doctor around, to dole out advice for free, which he or she spent hundreds of thousands of their $'s learning about.

The OP asked for unconventional advice. I think my answer fit the ticket. I note you did not bother to suggest a remedy. Perhaps inhaling the fumes from petrified ground scatberry tea?

So true. I used to have lower back pain so I started going to one of those classes at the gym that focuses on abs. Since my abdominal muscles have strengthened and firmed up, the lower back pain is virtually gone. Back muscles and abdominals are definitely connected.
Thanks, LafayetteMister. I copied all that in its entirety and sent her an email just a few minutes ago.

Thank you Eviotis and Myself, i sent your suggestions as well.
swimming very gently either doggy paddle or breast stroke. It stretches the muscle around the back. Most Chiropractactors recommend it as exercise. We do have English physios in this country and chiropractors (who aren't based in hospitals) who'll help your friend out. She is being silly. Back pain can cause major damage to other parts of your body as you over compensate on other muscles to sort it out.
Sleep with a flat pillow between your knees. That takes the pressure off the lower back.
