SA Doctor invents female condoms with "teeth" to fight rape.

The woman inserts the latex condom like a tampon. Jagged rows of teeth-like hooks line its inside and attach on a man's penis during penetration, Ehlers said.

Once it lodges, only a doctor can remove it -- a procedure Ehlers hopes will be done with authorities on standby to make an arrest.

"It hurts, he cannot pee and walk when it's on," she said. "If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter... however, it doesn't break the skin, and there's no danger of fluid exposure."

My cousin pointed out this article to me, and I found it really interesting. I can see both sides of the argument. It does sort of put women into a victim mind frame before/without being . But having the device does seem like a good idea for prevention, and prosecution if is as prevalent as it seems in some areas.

What do you think of this invention? Will it impact the number of rapes?
How can you predict when you will be ? Or should you go round wearing it all the time jic?
Not sure how practical this invention is for general society. Chances are if I'm going into an area where I think I might be , I probably wouldn't be going into that area at all (seems like the easier prevention method to me). However, I live in a safe area and I think that maybe this invention has more applicable potential in other demographic areas.

I would love to see this invention manufactured and then compassionately donated to women in countries where is currently being used as a weapon of war (eg. the Congo, Darfur etc). Knowledge of it's availability in rural villages might work as a decent deterrent to the militia and rebel armies.

That tends to be my way of thinking too. Although if I was a woman in a neighbourhood known for a high rate, I might think differently. The article recommends a few situations where they thought a woman should wear it. I find it interesting that you question whether someone should wear it all the time just in case. But is it really all that different than carrying a gun at all times, just in case? And you advocated that.

Doll...I must say you are so well spoken and frequently echo my sentiments exactly.

Perfect idea. It's what it should have been invented for. Chances are, it wasn't.
Most rapists won't put a condom on...How are you going to slip this in within the situation? how will you prevent malicious women from using it against an innocent man who has pissed her off?

There are plenty of women living and going to school in inner-city areas where that's just not an option.

Yes I do but, I don't carry my gun in my vagina.
As another thought. If he sticks his penis in there and it gets shredded, I'd be willing to bet he's going to be pissed off and it cause him to want to kill me more than he did before. If he did before.

I agree, but at least it gives a woman a chance to get away or fight back. If a kick to the groin is immobilizing to a guy... getting his dick turned into swiss cheese will probably be even more effective. I just see it as giving a woman an edge to fight back with and make her escape.

And I think knowing that it's available and being used in certain demographic areas or war-torn countries like the Congo, Liberia or Darfur will work more as a scare tactic or deterrent and might make a man think twice.

I'm not sure how much these would cost when being sold, but I'd think it's more of a compassionate use product than something that's going to be a huge money maker. The places where women would benefit from this invention are typically impoverished or third world etc.

That was my first thought after reading Dancing Dolls post about giving them to women in war torn countries. I'm sure the rapists have guns and getting their dicks mangled might make them want to shoot those guns.

I thought this was an interesting quote showing that many assaults actually occur without guns:

"Nzigire believes has been a cheap, simple weapon for all parties in the war, more easily obtainable than bullets or bombs".

Based on what I have read and documentaries I have watched on this crisis, I think any means of self defence would be welcomed by that population of women. These attacks go way beyond the kind of sexual assaults common to the rest of the industrialized world. Maybe they can modify the condoms so that instead of teeth, it acts more like a mini-guillotine.
Imagine if you stuck your tongue in their first? Ouchies

Makes me happy I live in a somewhat safe country...

I guess after the first few guys to lose they're cocks the rapes might stop or they might know to look first and pull out the killer condom before deciding to a woman.

I read it'll cost around 3 Dollars per piece, cheaper than a condom..............
This article mentioned $2 each, which is about double the cost of condoms where I am, but still affordable.
I think the article mentioned that it needs to be put on and taken out by a doctor right?
Must be removed from a man by a doctor, but is inserted by the woman like a tampon. Although I don't know what happens if you put your finger in the wrong spot while inserting. The woman might have to go to the doctor to get it off her finger.
Thought this deserved a bump...

Looks like it would be nearly as painful for the woman as for the man.

Oh it sounds all great and dandy doesn't it? The word gets out that women are wearing them around so the rapists start to check for them before ramming it home. Now instead of just you they turn it inside out and let you get the shredded end. Subterfuge isn't always a good idea. Especially when its possible to be found out. Rather unlikely but it could go very wrong if used the other direction.

Yep...take a violent or gang of them and incite him/them further to become a murdering (s). My thinking exactly, Jill.
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
