Yes I do, even before the lockdown.

Now our dumbass government is making it law as of 15 june that everyone on public transport has to wear a mask, but you cant buy the 'approved' N95 masks anywhere, without paying over the odds for them.
You should first read this Looky Here!!

and then this Free stuff

then say 'Hi'

Where in the world are you that they allow customers to do what they want?
I live in SoCal, its required to wear a mask out in public and I've seen Gelson's(grocery store) turned people away for not wearing a mask.

Rural/small town area in Western Washington. I've even noticed that employees at various stores have masks hanging around their necks but not covering their faces. Pisses me off but i just avoid them to avoid confrontations and getting closer to people than I fee comfortable doing. And I have mentioned it to managers (when you can find one at WM) but it doesn't seem to matter.

Few people in my part of the north-west of England wear masks. I went to our local Morrisons supermarket last week and saw only two people in them (out of, say, the couple of hundred I encountered during the time I was out shopping. None of the staff was wearing a mask).

It always amuses me how people give each other such a wide berth when passing on the streets and yet when in a supermarket they can linger inches apart while browsing the shelves.

I think if I commuted on public transport every day, then I'd wear a mask. The current thinking is that you have to be in close proximity to someone for fifteen minutes to get a large enough dose of the virus to make an impression on the body. But hey. Next week that theory will probably out with the trash.

Yeah, I wear a mask when in a public space, like a shop, garage, etc. I don't wear one when out in the open. At times I maybe the only one in Lidl or Sainsbury's wearing one but I'm following the Government advice. No doubt the ones who don't wear a mask are the ones visiting other houses, meeting up with more than one person outside.

LucaByDesign, it happens to me with people lingering inches from me at the shelves. The other week I had a couple, maybe late 60's and she tried to get some yoghurt I was just about to get. I loudly, firmly but politely said " TWO METERS PLEASE" She stopped sudden and let me move away before getting her yoghurt. I kept encountering them in different isles and thought nothing of it. When at the checkout they walked past me and hubby said something sarcastic and as I looked he was grinning. If only he could of lipread my mask covered mouth pmsl. Anyway, I pay and bool my trolley out into the carpark towards my car. I'm getting closer and I'm kind of looking, nah it can't be? Car being loaded up next to mine was the couple. I stopped next to mine and asked him would he like to repeat his comment? His face was a picture but she was I'm going for someone as apparently I had followed them to threaten them. I stayed there until a shop worker came, I let them two have their spiel about me shouldn't be there. I was given the chance to reply/explain. I told the worker about the lack of social distancing from the woman, the sarcastic remark by him at the tills and now I was just going to my car. I got my key fob out, pressed the unlock button and hey presto, my car lights blinked. I opened my boot and said what a coincidence but next time, keep your remarks to yourself. The shop worker looked like she was gonna piss herself laughing. I left before they did smile

so, you don't follow any laws? speed limit? seatbelt law? child seat laws? don't pay taxes? and seriously, you just don't give a fuck if you infect someone else? awesome. glad you don't live in my hood. purely selfish. it's not really a big deal, you know. whatever.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Whenever I leave the house to go shopping or run errands I have my mask to don when necessary. If I am walking the dog around the neighborhood it is not needed. All of the other walkers, runners, and cyclists stay distanced. So inside all sorts of shops and such, I will be wearing my mask.

Yes, wear a freaking mask. Cloth/surgical masks do a bit to protect you but it does a good job protecting others. See my post from the corona virus thread from all the way back on April 11th- most of that is still applicable.

Healthcare worker here & I live in one of the hot spots in the US (MA with over 100k cases mostly in eastern MA where I live). I saw a heated argument outside a grocery store this morning in which a gentleman wasn't wearing a mask and the employee at the door offered him one. He refused and the employee wouldn't let him in. He talked about taking precautions for all of the employees there and directed him to the posted policy on the door. The gentleman made quite the scene and really was quite unfair to the employee who was doing his job as well as following the CDC guidelines. He was also frustrated with waiting 20 minutes just to get into the store in the socially distanced line outside (I was 3 people behind him). Unfortunately, his reasoning was that he didn't need to wear a mask because he didn't want to and this whole virus thing was never really bad and was most certainly now over. The employee tried to reason with him and even pointed out the deaths of 2 employees of the same grocery store chain nearby which resulted in the current policy. The guy basically called the employee a liar, flipped him off and then walked back to his car. I'm not trying to be controversial here, just pointing out that without taking precautions we are all going to be locked down again sooner than later. This is going to be a long haul until a vaccine at least here in the states...

**** FROM 4/11:

The short answer here is that N95 > surgical mask > cloth mask for personal protection (see Lancet reference below). N95 should be saved for healthcare workers, who are getting exposed to huge viral loads. Surgical and cloth masks mainly prevent droplet transmission of the virus from infected (sometimes asymptomatic) people into the air. These droplets can stay airborne for up to 3 hours (see NEJM reference below). Cloth and surgical masks do give some protection from inhaling the virus in droplets (surgical masks > cloth). Honestly from all of whats in the med journals out there right now, 1) something is better than nothing for a mask when in public with other humans, it also decreases risk of transmission to others if you have the virus and are either symptomatic or asymptomatic. 2) Save the N95s for the healthcare workers. They need it more than you and if they don't have them and they get sick, there are less people to take care of others or you if you get sick.

I can't post links but if you cut and paste into google, here are references for the above info because facts matter. Also, note that these are commentaries from experts and not full-blown studies which means this is the consensus based on what we currently know which changes daily. -LL

Indoor public places I do. Outdoors, no. I've bought boxes of the things, plus hand sanitizer for all our employees, but I suspect the maintenance guys don't wear them half the time no matter what I tell them.

Always. It's not even a question for us anymore. We wear a mask from the time we leave our truck to the time we get back in every time no matter how many stops we make. This coronavirus is not anything to mess with.

No. Never until yesterday.
I was required to wear one (provided) before I could enter an Apple store - with hand sanitiser and temperature check.

Speaking only of the U.S.A.
Individual states have Governors who by executive order have said Masks are required in various places. It is not a Law. Laws are made / passed by Congress whether it be State or Federal and signed by the Governor or President to make it an official Law. Executive orders from Governors or the President is an order not a Law.
Yes I wear a Mask in Public Buildings due to more than one underlying Health issue.

Absolutely. Yes. I have an N95 I got for a woodworking project a long while ago, but don't wear it unless I am going somewhere really crowded, because I'm a bit self conscious about not having donated them to healthcare workers. The package was just open already. Otherwise I wear one of the many stylish and passive aggressive masks that say stuff like "This Was Preventable". Okay... maybe not so passive.

Same -

From the end of February until just last weekend, when I finally found someplace (local grocery store) to purchase facemasks 50 count for $40...I have been wearing a mask I crudely made from an oversized t-shirt, following instructions viewed on Pinterest. Using it in conjuction with a balaclava made of thicker fabric was the best I could think of for the dozen times I'd been out in public since 'this' started around the 1st of March, 2020.

Was I protected from being infected - no. Did I protect anyone else from myself, transmitting the virus or any other illness - probably not. People who don't wear masks/scarves/bandanas/balaclavas have been unable to enter a few stores I've entered. I've gradually seen more and more customers wearing them when I'm inside a business. I've almost always seen employees of every business I've entered - wearing some form of facial protection.

Why not - because you don't want to be dictated to or 'treated like a sheep by our overlords' ?

I've had hicktards walk up behind me in line at cashiers, then coughing upon my back (without covering their mouths with their hands), and when I turn to glare - they either return their own "Try It Punk" glare or they nonchalantly turn and keep wheezing and hacking in a new direction within 2/3 feet of me.

We live in a very selfish society. I've known this forever.
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

My spouse is a crackerjack seamstress. She sewed eight dozen masks that we donated to our local hospital, at the request of an oncologist friend there. We use masks she made for ourselves whenever necessary.

Edit: I must add that we have been quite lucky in our Kansas county. We have had 69 confirmed cases of coronavirus and no reported deaths.

It's ridiculous that Sprite choose to mention Laws out of context with the thread, of which the header was clear enough, well at least to me. Here, we have a choice regarding masks and as long as I have a choice, I'll make one. By the way, if you want to deoxygenate your blood by 20% feel free, it won't help your immunity either. Why not look at some hard scientific data instead of spouting forth bullshit ?

It is my choice to do so when in public spaces, especially enclosed public spaces, but, apparently, quite a few others choose differently.

At the moment, only on public transport. I live in Norway, and we have had it under control in the area I live in for quite some time. Last documented infected person was over a week ago, and we have fairly high testing rates. I am also almost fully isolated as it is, leaving my home once pr week for groceries.

If either of this changes? Of course.

You get a SpO2 level at 80 % with a mask? That sounds extreme. Mine is not a n95, but it does impede my breathing somewhat, and I'v measured my saturation going from 97-100 down to 92-93 for the time I wear it. Unpleasant, but harmless.

I am very prone to catch and die from the Virus. I do not have it but am advised by my doctors, to stay at home. At 5 AM, I am allowed to go outside to watch the sunrise with a hot cup of coffee but the mask kind of spoils that.
Two members of my of my family have caught it, the father died and his daughter is still on a ventilator. They are contracted to do the hospital laundry, and that is how they got it.
Two close friends have also died from it. One was a smoker and the other was on chemo.
I wish I could say I was lie-ing here but no one could make that up.

My work requires it of us employees. I put one on when we open up, then within an hour I clock out, take it off, and toss it in the garbage can. I have one sitting on the seat of my truck in case I go somewhere that requires them for entry, though I've not run into such yet. They're worthless and accomplish nothing when you look into the effects of each. If anything, they're doing more harm to the wearer than good for anyone.
