I'm really hoping Holland doesn't implode in the knockstage this time... And Mexico reaching the semis might be a little hopeful but they did win the under 17 worldcup and some of those players will be in the squad in south Africa.
Mexico vs. Gambia is starting in 45 min. Hoping they crush them and no one gets injured especially Giovanni dos Santos or Carlos Vela.
*kick*
Maybe this thread could be turned into a Sticky for the World Cup?
Tonight the Dutch will take on Ghana. In contrast to the previous friendly against Mexico, we'll most likely start with our 11 best players. Curious to see how they'll play as a team!

My only escape from football world cup fever is on Lush ha ha When will it end so I can meet new men again lol
I dont know who will win, but I'll be glued in front of TV, I just love world cups, the supporters, the craziness, the surprises, etc. This one has an added value: it's in South Africa, so anything can happen.
It definitely is a fever because I got caught up in it before, when I wasn't even a soccer fan.
The countdown clock is ticking and it's exciting.
Well well, interesting game. We trashed Ghana with 4-1. Their goal was a retarded mistake by two of our defensive players though. Let's hope they won't repeat that at the World Cup.
Also saw a summary of Portugal vs. Cameroon. Portugal looked like their usual attractive offensive football playing style and won 3-1. Apparently they had problems in the qualifications round but I'm sure they'll do some proper damage at the World Cup.
Only 9 days to go for the kick off wohoo!!

Only 8 days 23 hours left until World Cup time!
Four goals on Ghana is no easy feat. Holland is looking strong.
Mexico v Italy tomorrow. I'm curious to see how Italy's old guys will do against Mexico's speedy offense. I hope Italy doesn't score early because it might turn into a really boring game.
Hey guys, what's a good team to root for in the World Cup? I never really watched soccer, but with the hot-ass guys and as big a deal as it is, it might be fun to try and follow.
You might say, you're American, follow the US, but that's not enough for me- just because the guys are from the same country as me doesn't mean I owe them a damn thing. I want to be entertained. Since soccer already just seems like a bunch of dudes just running back and forth, what team is exciting to watch, that will give me a real shot at staying interested?
What team has the best uniforms? The best fans?
I want to pick a team, so convince me.ZuakVOTcE6gVb4iw
My girlfriend loves the Spanish and Portugese players. At least they're good at the sport but she likes looking at them cause she thinks they're perfect male specimens...
I saw reports of this today too Rocco.
Every world cup the players belly ache about the ball. I remember four years ago they complained that it "knuckled" in the air and made it too hard to defend against long shots. This new ball is light and unpredictable as well, I like this because it should reward aggressive offensive play. I hate watching two teams bunker for 90 min to squeeze out a draw. Also the ball has been used in matches for several months now and no one has complained until now. Sounds like some teams are setting up excuses in case they don't perform well.
They always complain about every new WC ball. Usually it's the goalies that complain since out of all players they have to re-adjust the most.
Either way, the WC will be played with this ball so whoever complains should reconsider and get back to what they're supposed to do. Train like hell and perform like the best on the highest attainable level of soccer.
RE: the commercial, it's directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu (Babel, 21 Grams, Amores perros).
Interestingly Ronaldinho is in the commercial but he wasn't selected for the Brazil national team this WC.

Mexico beats the defending champs Italy 2-1 today.
Mexico played like beasts while Italy looked pretty rusty. It's Italy's first friendly though but I would still be concerned if I were Italian.
The way Bergkamp controlled that ball and shook the defender was masterful. That finish was also so calm. Great great player that Arsenal still hasn't found a replacement for.
I saw the match, too, and agree. It's not going to be their year this time. It reminded me of Juventus (who added a lot of the team players).
Who do you like on Friday, the 11th?
South Africa vs. Mexico
Uruguay vs. France
My money's on Mexico and Uruguay!
