I am a die hard NFL fan! Go Dallas!! They kicked ass on Sunday! They play tonight, and so far I have not been able to find out what channel!

I do the whole Superbowl thing every year. Have never been to a tailgate party or to a game. Would love to someday though.

Oh my gosh.

I love the NFL.

I can't wait to start watching again. Nothing's better than just relaxing on a Sunday and watching game after game while keeping an eye on my fantasy football score. Trying to piece together the best team for the next week, mmm. I'm so excited you wouldn't even know.

I'm a die-hard Favre fan so I'm definitely pulling for him to come back for another year and bring the Vikings to a Superbowl win. Wouldn't that be fantastic. Of course, I am from Nebraska so I have to go for the Detroit Lions. Suhheart I guess I don't really know who I'm totally pulling for just yet this year.

Whoever I do choose, I know this is going to be the highlight of the year for me. I just love the beginning of the season.

Pats are my team. I am cautiously optimistic about this season, but then we haven't played any meaningful games yet. Been watching the NFL since the the late 90's

No, no, no, and absolutely no! I've often wondered why American football has never gained any appreciation outside of the USA, except for perhaps within a few developing countries.

I just finished writing a story about a player from my university who is now playing American football in Denmark. Before I wrote the article, I had no clue there was even a league there, but apparently it does well.

I think part of the reason it hasn't caught on that large outside of the US, is that there are similar games in other areas of the world. (Rugby, Aussie rules football, etc) If I remember correctly, American football came from rugby, so it kind of makes sense that the "old world" would still prefer that game. There's probably also a bit of an anti-US backlash against the game, with people avoiding it specifically because it is hyped so much in the US.

No need to get on the defensive, Jebru.

I was asking a poignant question, regardless of the origins of the game and political views about the US.

The question remains.

I'll take a stab, but I could be totally wrong. Is it because the dominant game worldwide- soccer- is nonstop action? I could see how if you were used to that, then you watch a football game, where a bunch of dudes in armor go at it for like 5 seconds, then stand around for another minute in between. Maybe if you didn't grow up with it, that would seem wierd?

I am a huge Steelers Fan. Been watching football games and going to as many as I can for as long as I can remember. I remember going to the AFC Championship game in 1979 and freezing my ass off in the sleet, freezing rain and snow all day. Sundays in the fall are my days. Don't bother me, call me or talk to me unless its about one of the games on. I buy the NFL TV package and flip thru all the games. Even better now is the NFL networks "Redzone" which will switch you to the games as the team goes into the redzone.

I love fantasy football also and belong to as many as 10 leagues every year. Last year was the first year in the last 5 that I lost money on the leagues I joined.

Even with Big Ben's troubles I am still confident that the Steeler's will make the plyoffs and do well all year long.

perhaps because it is American Football??

Canadian Football isn't seen outside of Canada, from what I gather ....

and who cares? Your comment

sounds a bit like a bash ... guess that's why Jebru responded.

If I liked a game that was only played in Timbucktoo, I'd figure out how to watch it .... and maybe find others who enjoy it ....

Anyways ... looking to find a game in Philly, fly there and watch a game first hand! (It's on my bucket list!)

To be honest, I thought I was giving an answer to a serious question, not being defensive. But I guess my attempts to be helpful were not seen that way. I think Ladyx's answer factors in to it too. Getting in to a geographic profile of NFL fans, and trying to come up with reasons for the results is a bit of a thread jack, so I'll leave it.

It's still preseason, so the games don't mean much right now, but the thrashing the Bills received from Washington makes me think it's going to be another long year for Bills fans. At least they don't have to deal with T.O. this year.

Yes, yes, yes. My whole mood changes when football season is over. Fortunately, this year was not so bad since I had the World Cup to tide me over.

Well for a first game my Stillers looked ok. Lost a small part with a broken foot, but all in all they looked good. Can't wait to see what happens if they start the season 4-0 or 6-0, where does Ben fit then?

As long as he stops f'in around and respects the position he holds with such a good organization, then he can fit in anywhere, but honestly, there are other QB's out there.

6-0 or 0-6, long live the curtain.

3. My brother hosts tailgate parties and I go all the time
4. For my team you have to suspend belief to realistically believe they are going to the superbowl this year... that being said nno one is better than suspending belief then me. I am a SeaHawks fan, and proud of it.

Oakland, and we're coming back, the commitment to excellence has returned! However, on Halloween Night, hubby will be the enemy as he hopelessly cheers on his SeaChickens against my mighty Raiders. We'll probably make up before bed though...:-) Born and raised in the East Bay, Silver and Black all the way! We do attend a fair amount of Seahawks games and I'll cheer for them against anyone BUT my Raiders.

Do you think Brett is reconsidering or do you think some defensive lineman will make it official?
