I love tarantulas (I don't have a pet one)! Like a decade ago, my wife and I were hiking in Picket Wire Canyon (dinosaurs tracks!) during tarantula migration season, where the males are wandering around looking to get laid. We saw over 20 of them. Scary, but so beautiful. I grew unafraid enough over the afternoon to get really close to several of them, though I never picked one up. The colors are amazing.

Unfortunately I've never seen one in the wild. In general though they are mostly quite docile and very few are so aggressive as to attack humans. As a general rule those tarantulas from South and Central America are the least aggressive of the species, docile and easy to handle. African and Asian ones can be quite aggressive. We have an Orange Baboon tarantula and we have to use special gloves to handle it when we clean out its terrarium. Its bite is not dangerous but it will require a visit to A&E to get intravenous antibiotic treatment and it will leave your hand numb for many hours!

As for handling

Hold gently but firmly between the Cephalothorax and abdomen. It will not be able to bite. If you have reared a tarantula from being a spiderling to a young adult and handled it regularly you will find them to be very tame.

My father is a biologist and I grewup with critters of all sorts from caimans (or caymans depending upon which english you use to tarantulas). I think they are great little creatures.

I was bitten by a black widow a few years back and got a MRSA infection from it as well. That said, I have no fear of spider and especially tarantulas. I would have a very healthy respect for funnel web spiders in Australia however.

Now that's one dangerous looking butterfly!
The people of The United States want socialism. The people of Venezuela want toilet paper.
A recent article in "The Miami Herald" reveals that the food shortages caused by the economic collapse in Venezuela have had at least one positive side effect. Whereas before Venezuelans were having problems being overrun by herds of wild burros (donkeys), they've solved the problem by eating them. Now they have no burros or toilet paper.

Sadly we dont get many different varieties of butterflies here in the UK to my knowledge. I dont even see many red admirals or the rather more common white cauliflower. Nice to see in the garden on a sunny day.

You can help rectify that by providing host and food plants that will attract the butterflies to your property.

My wife and I have been attracting and raising, Monarch, Viceroy, Queen, Zebra Heliconian, Gulf Fritillary, Ruby Daggerwing, Giant Swallowtail, and Pipevine Swallowtail butterflies in our yard (garden) for years. It's actually quite easy to do. Plant the right plants then step back and watch the fun.

I have one almost in the same place, just a little lower, different colors, flying in the same direction.

I have one almost like this one. Mine is a little lower, different colors, with a 4 inch wingspans and flying in the same direction. It also doubles as Hubbie's mark of ownership.

I love tarantulas. We have them here. Once my wife and I were hiking into a place called Picketwire Canyon to see dinosaur tracks, during tarantula migration season (the males go around looking for females, the females stand around and look pretty I guess). Saw maybe 15-20 of them that day. Amazing colors, and the way they walk is sorta hypnotizing. Really beautiful.

EDIT: I just scrolled up and saw I wrote exact same thing like a few months ago. Sad to see so many brain cells float under the bridge, on their way downriver. Sigh.
