They say never judge a book by its cover. Well I'm coining a new adage: never judge a story by its category.
Put off originally by the fact it resided in / , I took the plunge and read the first part after people on my Friends' list commented on how awesome it was... and then I couldn't stop reading. Should have been working, but could not put it down. I raced through all three parts and put it up for nomination for a Series Award shortly after.
The subject matter that warranted its category is delicately handled and hot as hell. The protagonist's fears and hopes, struggling with her past demons, are taut, edgy and expertly drawn as she uncovers the layers of intrigue and we breathlessly scroll to the next page to find out along with her. It's fabulous stuff.
I'll shut up and let the story do the talking, saying only that it gives me great pleasure to announce that Katherine's story "This Side of Nowhere" has been bestowed with a thoroughly deserved Series Award rosette by the judging panel.
