Who'd like an OFFICE SEX category?

I think it's a waste as a tag as there is not really a category like it. I think it's a great opportunity.
Once a site has been organized by category, it's almost impossible to shift it toward anything tag based.

I do think that creating and making available a set of standardized tags on the submission form would do much to help readers find stories that appeal to their kinks, and help them avoid stories that might squick them. I wouldn't take away the ability to add unique tags, though.
So, the problem is that Lush has too many categories, eh?

Perhaps things need to be re-jigged into 4 categories:

1. straight sex (whatever that means)
2. solo/masturbation sex
3. lesbian sex
and bringing up the rear .... 4. gay male sex

would that makes the majority happier??

I wouldn't mind that if you had the sub-categories under each section. Say like your main sections on the front page, then click on it, and have the stories divided out into categories.

Say if you wanted a gay male story but in the category. Or a lesbian story in the Office Sex category.

Then you click on lesbian and go to the office sex category. Or the gay male and go to .

I think you would need two other main categories though: Bisexual and something like alternative for Transgendered and Crossdressing.

Right now many of the lesbian and gay male stories are scattered out into other categories or all lumped together under the generic categories and many people don't find them.

I think that might help a lot of the stories find a better audience.

Just a thought anyway.

You missed my sarcastic tone.

As an author, we have an idea of the genre we are writing about .... and then TAG the sub-portions of the story. (ie - Wife Lovers - tags - cheating, lesbian, bisexual, buttplugs, earplugs, trance music, etc)

The idea of Office/Workplace sex was similar to College Sex, Crossdressing, Exhibitionism, Voyeur, etc etc. It's a category that has been tagged often.

But hey .... it was only a thought .... as Buz said, his views on College Sex has been huge ... all of those views are not necessarily members, but people who search out that category of sex stories via google or bing or whatever they use as their search engine.

Traffic on Lush is a good thing ... and maybe it will attract some great writers who contribute to Lush's community.
I'm still on the fence with this one, although I've had a lot of feedback requesting the category.

I usually go with an overwhelming positive response, this one is on the borderline.

I voted no because to me all the basic sex actions are covered, to me workplace sex is a tag. Unless there's a literary need, I don't think additional categories are needed.

I tend to agree with this.

Categories should cover the basic sex actions and tags are there to define more narrowly the type of sex action.
“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
I just don’t understand the negativity towards an Office/Workplace category.

Of some of the categories, there are big hits for sure ( , straight, lesbian), but look at how many pages of stories we have for the following categories that are subcategories of various main ones:

Category - Pages of stories (viewed)
Wife Lovers - 70
MILF- 24
Cuckold - 15
Trans - 9
Toys - 7
College - 4
Cheating - 3

(15 stories to a page)

Interesting search provided:

Tags “Office/Workplace/Boss/Secretary”
* Office - 4161 Boss - 1832 Secretary 583
* Other workplaces - unknown (cuz I didn't search hospitals, gas stations, courts, etc)

Tags "College"- 4366

Tags "MILF" - 940

Tags "Cheating" - 1504

and just as a side note .... tags for " " .... 2639

I will say (as I did under the thread for the announcement) The split of Erotic and Love Poems was perfect as both have huge followings.

Anyways .... I've hung up my writing pen ... so I guess this thread is no longer of value.

good luck!
I'd probably end up doing a complicated hierarchy of categories but then I was a librarian in a previous life so I lean that way.

Office Sex is okay for a category because it is a fairly common sub-genre that people could be looking for.

Really, though, I'm rather in favour the idea of fairly broad categories with tags for more specific things. Else, you can end up with "Outdoor Gay Sex With Left-handed West Coast Bagpipe Technicians" as a category.
Gasp......outdoor gay sex with left handed west coast bagpipe technicians! How outrageous !!

What about the right handed bagpip techies living on the East coast........?

BTW.......office sex category gets my vote x
My Karma just ran over your Dogma
I've got one story that would go into 'office sex' and it's my only 'famous' story. It only took six months for it to hit 30 000 reads and that was with the word 'office' as one of the tags. Readers I talked to about it were referring to it as 'office sex' rather than 'workplace sex' but whatever it's category name, people will eventually know where to look. There are a lot of readers here who have a preference for that type of story. I know the former PA is known by readers as who to go to for an office scenario. Personally, if I'm looking for something particular on any website I scan the list of categories rather than search specific tags, but I'm lazy like that. If I do search for tags I don't do it for very long and if it's taking me too long to find something I go somewhere else.

Office Sex for a category -
I've changed my mind. I'm for it.

My mind is always working. I even have a story in mind for it
Excellent Idea. i like this
With 1 category gone I think this would make a good replacement for it.
I think it would be a good add, although I have been trying to figure out how to choose a category that crosses the lines of a few. For example I have a story I am working on that crosses the BDSM, spanking, and Office Sex if it is an option. An office is where the setting is but it would have BDSM in it and spanking.
Office sex should be a tag in a story, not the category. Just like outdoor sex is. The category should be chosen according to the sex act. Like, if it's several people having sex in an office then the category should be group sex and tagged office sex.

But there are several categories, e.g. College Sex, Humour, , that do not refer to a particular sex act.

Damn, I didn't even know college sex was a category... and humor are not quite akin to office sex though. They aren't settings. I'll make an analogy to movies. When you go to buy a movie there is a comedy (humor) section but there isn't an office comedy section. There is a horror section but there isn't a cabin by a lake horror section. I see and and humor more similar to that. College sex not so much, I guess if there is a college sex section then you might as well make an office sex section too.

I agree with you. The obvious thing is to tag it.
I would rather see a threesome category. Personally I think that the dynamics are totally different to group sex.
This idea is neither a turn on or off for me. However, if Nic & Co. do give this some consideration, I'd suggest a more inclusive title such as On The Job Sex. (No doubt there are many better 'inclusive' titles out there.) Who knows, it might lead to a batch of stories about: filling holes in the doughnut shop, gear jamming at the truck stop, grinding shafts at a machine shop or even stroking a round or two on the golf course. ;)

I'd say ditch the categories all together and only use tags, or allow multiple categories on a story (which is basicly tagging).
Consider a story about an interracial straight couple having a first time bi-adventure with a pre-op transsexual.

If Nic decides to add 'Workplace Sex' to the list of categories, another possible addition would be, 'Cyber Sex'. But, by far the category I'd most like to have added is 'Measurement Sex' which would include any story that begins with a listing of physical statistics. Not a perfect solution since they'll still befoul the main page, of course, but it would be a start toward sparing Lush readers. ;)

I think this would be a fun category
I have been thinking of writing about the affair I had with a coworker

Just make sure stories do not reference "Take Your Daughter To Work Day"
Lol. (Sorry. Could not resist the joke)
@ Rumple, you made me laugh with that one.

I think this category might fly, looking at the feedback and votes.
What's up with this idea?

Good question.

Thanks for the reminder

It will be added soon.
This is now live.

If you have any stories you think that will suit this category better, please switch them over to help populate the new category.

We've gone with "Office Sex" as the category naming, with the blurb explaining it's more workplace related. That's purely for search engine reasons.
