Enter for new line, shift+enter to send... is an improvement

I agree. The Send button should send, everywhere. Enter is a typed character and should make a newline, everywhere. Shift+Enter (on devices that support it) is a handy shortcut for Send and is a definite action (as opposed to a possibly accidental keystroke) so is way better UX overall.

On tiny screens, you're far less likely to hit the dedicated Send button by mistake than an Enter, which is down near the punctuation popup on this virtual keyboard I'm using, so is easy to clip with a wayward finger tap.

Rule #1 in user interface design is do what users expect: no surprises.

Please browse my digital bookshelf. In this collection, you can find 109 full stories, 10 micro-stories, and 2 poems with the following features:

* 29 Editor's Picks, 72 Recommended Reads.
* 15 competition podium places, 9 other times in the top ten.
* 21 collaborations.
* A whole heap of often filthy, tense, hot sex.

Just checked out the new messages. It looks good to me but I don’t all need the messages that have popped back, there’s years worth that must be taking up loads of storage space. Will they vanish in 60 days? If not, could Admin kindly hit select all, delete all, please 🙏

I’d rather start over x

Will we be able to save your message as a draft, come back later and add to it or edit it before sending it?

Many members send long messages back and forth. It was always one of the popular and great social perks in the old Lush.

Hey Buz, you don't technically save, but you can certainly start a message to someone and then come back to it. Just start typing in the window. If you leave the screen, or look in another message, or even log out, it's fine - your draft to the first person will still be there when you go back to the conversation.

Yes to the above, when logging off, message will be saved as draft.

But if you close window(not log off, as I just close window) draft won't be saved. I tried it out.

Best to log off if you'd like draft to be saved.

Update on the messaging system after IT have been testing it:

Old messages will be migrated as they are, i.e. as individual messages with a subject, and when the mailboxes are migrated only new messages will be in the conversation style.

Any time line when that might happen? Because right now, it's pretty much useless. I can't even send a message and most of the time, the message box just has the spinning circle.

Thank you. I think that very clearly states how it will work. And that we will need to manage things for ourselves.

Expect conversation groups named Lynn/Rob0001, Lynn/Rob0002 etc. from now on. Along with five years of historical messages all lumped into one. Bet you thought they couldn't make it worse, didn't you?

You guys actually save 5 years worth of PMs. do you like... read them too? Like just spend a couple of weeks reading all of them? Or... this is such a strange concept to me, so i'm seriously curious.

I had messages going back to when I joined. Many had been in folders and some were important to me. When we migrated to Lush 2.0, I spent a lot of time going through and making sure what I wanted to keep was starred. I did not open and copy each one as I took the word that starred emails would be saved as fact. Now I am not so sure in reading through what is happening.

Can you please raise a support ticket for that? Thanks.

I have a question

Is there a way to delete received inbox message w/out entering chat?

It would be very useful to be able to select messages from a list for bulk deletion. I find messages from years ago about which I care nothing intermixed with some I'd like to save. I'm trying to copy the latter to local storage, but the 'chaff' makes it difficult to sort through them all.

We have now added the ability to bulk delete messages. Click the avatar section to toggle selection, then click "Delete Selected" at the bottom.

We have also added a settings page, with privacy settings as well as enter button behaviour and the ability to toggle sound for individual / group messages independently.

Do the privacy settings, for male/female override the same in the profile privacy settings or are they one of the same?

Oohhh, such a cute sound.

Like a poof.

But one thing I noticed is that Messages must be opened(lite view) or in another window for you to be notified by sound.

John: They are the same settings, just an additional place to set them.

Update: I'm not seeing the "Delete Selected" item (or the "Clear Selection" as in your screenshot). I've looked both in the 'mailbox' view and the the smaller view. (Using browser on desktop machine)

Tap/Click on users icon(avatar)

You'll see this at the bottom

and delete.

DESKTOP(SAMSUNG TABLET) VERSION SCREENSHOT

Here's through lite mode--viewable from forum, stories section (page) and while reading a story.

Two options to accomplish mass deleting.

Go to main mail option to see full message window.

Edit: You can click on the three dots and choose the VIEW MAILBOX option to be directed to, main mailbox.

The window I get does not look like that. When I get time, I'll see how it appears on my phone.

How message structure looks for all of us may it be through lite mode or full message page.

How it looks once you've tap/clicked on users avatar whose messages you'd like to do a mass deletion on

Asking you to verify deletion.

Ok, this has to be my last "paint by numbers" about this cause Developers have made it dummy proof

¹*MOBILE VERSION cause you know, screenshot shows desktop icon(when it's on DESKTOP MODE it'll show MOBILE ICON and everything is zoomed out automatically when choosing said option on Tablet)

Edit: ¹* I've edited this a few times. You're welcome.

Just a data point, but having now checked this on a real desktop with Firefox v98.0, Librewolf v97.0-1, Chromium 99.0.4844.51, and a fresh out-of-the-box unmodified Opera 84.0.4316.31, I can still say that the message window I see in each case is essentially that as I posted before, though Chromium does not show the horizontal scroll bar.

I'm beginning to suspect that it may be related to accessibility setting I use, but I haven't had time to go all through them.

Not a big deal.

At least you came to terms that it's on your end and not Lush.

But I'll say, that I have scrolls hidden on my browsers cause I prefer a clean look on screens.

And I'll still help w/ "paint by numbers" for the ones that need visual help and of course, laugh cause I cannot not laugh at you not getting the point.

This post may or may not be helpful, just in case Mods delete it.

Had to quote my original unedited post to add screenshots

Edit: Used Opera browser but seeing as I use Samsung Tablets specifically for Lush, it gives me the same structure from previous screenshots. I haven't seen the issue you have on any other browser on my end.

Developers test updates on different computers/mobiles/tablets and browsers before making any new changes to a site. So, that's that.

Actually, I never did say it was a Lush problem. I've seen issues before as with the Dark Reader extension, and posting here helped resolve that.

Well, hopefully you've manage on your end.

I found the 'send on enter' setting shown in Dan's screenshot and turned it to off, but it doesn't work. Pressing return still sends the message. On my android phone.

Edit:

Even if I go to the full message system

https://www.lushstories.com/messages

the return key sends a message so I can't write a message with paragraphs. This matters because if I want to star and keep a long message I have to click and star each paragraph.

Hey Nicolas, we've made Dan aware of that thank you smile

First off, I applaud the developers that created the new messaging system. There are some things I'm not particularly pleased about, but they are insignificant preferences, not real issues.

There is one thing I would like to see, for the sake of user convenience. If a message thread, either in the compact interface or the mailbox, has an unread message, could you make the topic line in bold so it stands out? When I go to my mailbox/ message console, I can see that I have X number of unread messages but I need to scan through the list to see which ones have unread communications.

I cannot imagine the amount of hard work and testing that had to go into creating the updated system; I appreciate the fact that the Lush community and developers are so dedicated to maintaining and improving the site and community.

Everyone keeps mentioning how hard the developers are working to do this and that. But if this is just a mirror image of the swingers heavens sites, then why aren't the systems already written and the bugs worked out already? We have already pretty much been told that a lot of the features we had on old lush are just not coming back. Asking for a friend...

Is it possible for Lush to be "turned off" for users who are broken records? The site can be active for them once everything is done. Just me being a helpful asshole.

Thankyou and you're welcome.

This is not a mirror of those sites. We used their framework initially to set it up, and once it stabilised, the developers have been editing the code to make it more suitable to Lush's specific needs.

Old features may not be coming back, but new features are coming.
