The new system says "Messages older than 2 months will be removed unless you star them." But even messages from today, posted in the new system, are already gone. 2 hours seems more in line with what's happening.

I have messages from the old messaging system and messages from a conversation yesterday still in my box and I have not starred anything so whatever it is, there's something more than just time happening.
A poem for your enjoyment. Little something that came to me a couple days ago

Same. (Very tumblr of me.)
Maybe a coincidence but my mobile data used 1.6GB in one day since the upgrade of the messenger system. I'm eating at least 4MB/s continuously when I have open one of the new messages which should only have a few .gif animations in them (the images were inserted using the camera icon and selecting external). If the message is text only or a still jpg there is no continuous data drain, it just appears when .gif or animations are present.
My messages don't seem to be in order. Top of the list is one from last year. (Edit: I understand this now. It's because someone deleted a message from their side, which for some reason makes it pop up to the top of my messages).
No indication of new messages - I have a new message but it's not highlighted in any way, and I didn't get an email. Has the system of sending an email when we get a new message been stopped?
Various friends appear at the top of the messages, in some order I can't make out. (Edit - figured this one out, it's friends in the order they last logged in).
I'm trying to search for all the old messages from a particular user. Is there a way to do that? It gives me a few of the recent ones but the older ones have either been deleted or don't come up in the search.
When I click "New message" A box comes up saying "Search for users". That search is case sensitive so I would have to try to remember whether, say, justpassingthrough or spunkymonkey used caps or not. Otherwise I get "Page not found".
Images in old messages seem to work for me. Except that they've got those silly blurred bits either side of the main image.
The search is very useful though. That's a big improvement on the old system.
I'm confused about deletes. I have oodles of messages that have now apoeared that I don't recall saving. I'm OCD about clutter and trying to delete them all, but on some I hit 3 dots and get "Delete" option and others it says "Leave Group", even though msg from 1 person. What's the difference?

That explains why our brief messaging from two weeks ago has reappeared at the top of my messages. I can't answer your question(s) but it solves a mystery for me!

I just got a message from a friend. The last reply in it is dated 16 October 2021. Below that is a gray box the says "*username* has left." They're on line right now, so they haven't left Lush. Does that mean the message thread was deleted by them?
I have raised that with the development team since I can see that in my mail.
The username has left messages indicate that, the specified user has left that conversation. It appears this way because all the imported messages are imported as group messages.
The "Delete" vs "Leave Group" is for the same reason as above (Imported messages are group messages), if you sent the first message you are the "owner" of that group message and can therefore delete it, if you didn't send the first message you are not the owner and will have the option to leave it.

Okay, that actually makes a lot of sense!
Thank you Dan!

Thanks, Dan, for explaining. I'm am odd one and it seriously causes me stress to see pages and pages of messages, so I'm wanting them gone. It's funny, but most are comments I've left on another's story in the past. It seems those would be on that person's message box instead of mine.
Hi ... me again ... is there a way to delete all messages at once or is it just one by one? With me now having a message for every comment I ever made on a story, I'll never have time to delete them all. Thank you. (I'm sorry, the weirdest things cause me anxiety. I see pages and pages of messages and it feels like pressure)
Hi Kimmi, do you have an example (e.g the user you sent it to and/or the subject?) of a message that you believe to have been a comment? There was nothing done in this migration that should have caused that.
We don't currently have an option for people to delete all their messages at once, but if you are 100% sure you don't want any of them, or wanted to PM me the messages to keep it is something I can do for you.
Hi Dan,
I copied/pasted one below...

Hi sweet Dan! Yes, if it's an easy task, please delete the entire horde of messages. then, I can keep it cleaned up going forward. This neurotic author thanks you very much!!

Update: It's beginning to look like this data drain also happens on Groups as well as Messenger. It looks as if now ALL of the posts in any one Group are trying to load even if you can only see one post on your phone screen. Example: https://www.lushstories.com/groups/sexy-in-lingerie This didn't appear to happen before eg. Only the current or nearby posts would be loaded, untill you scroll up or down to the next posts.
I don't have this problem with Forums, I suspect that is because each theme is dividend into pages so one 1 page gets loaded, but if you open a Message or Group ALL then posts get loaded in one go? Maybe you could subdivide long messages and long Groups get broken up into pages? If I get time I'll try and have a look on my PC to see if that has the same problem to using my phone 🤳😃

Be aware that if you delete a message you are likely to cause some confusion for your correspondent (see comment from Kistin). They will see an old message pop up to the top of their messages with a box saying 'Xxxxx has left'.

Please could that message be changed to "username has left this conversation"? That would be less confusing!

Dan. Can you help me out please. I have likely 100's of mails because when we migrated in September, all of the Greeting messages that the system automatically sent out on my behalf, came back into my inbox. I did at one time spend close to an hour deleting them but gave up. If you are able to delete everything from my Mail prior to September 2021 that would be much appreciated.

Dan, obviously he means excluding anything sent from me. That's sacred.

Update2: Problem replicated on my PC using FireFox Browser. Groups is trying to load over a GB of data from some picture heavy groups, it looks like you have created one massive html page that contains every single post (in that group all at once). That also appears to be happening on the new Messenger. And I suspect thats why I used up 1.6GB just by opening a single Message Thread.
Please can you do something like using thumb nail pics (and the user only loads the full sized image if they clcik on it) or by adding pages like in The Forum or only loading the post thats visible. I dont have a problem with Viewing Forums on Lush or all the other images heavy sites, its appears thant only Lush Messenger and Lush Groups has this problem because of the flat (massive) single html page layout.
😲 That's ... bad. Not a problem for me since I don't use the groups or send images much but it will be for a lot of people on here. I think image size can actually be managed through Cloudflare if I remember conversations in the support forums for Xenforo correctly but I don't use CF myself so not sure.
