This might seem petty, but it's annoying to constantly debate old white men who can't seem to figure out how to make an avatar.

I honestly mix them up all the time.

I would prefer the forums not turn into the comments section of a youtube page.

In fact, I think that all members should have an avatar. It will dissuade lazy idiots from making profiles to peddle nonsense.

I adore you but don't you have a few accounts?
I'm curious as to why you abandon them and remake?

And some are just here to post on the Think Tank thread that's why they haven't bothered
to upload a pic to use as an avi or looked into choosing one of the avi's lush supplies.

They have, it's white on red.

Personally I find it a lot more confusing when different people have the same non-red/white avatar, probably from the default stack, or when people keep changing their avatar (but so do I every now and then, so you won't hear me complaining).

Perhaps Lush could make different color variations of the default avatar, where people get a random color assigned when they join.

Damon, I made you a bookmark, so you can assign avatars yourself to people who have the default avatar (and only those):
javascriptsadfunction(a){document.querySelectorAll(['female','male'].map(g=>`img[src$="/images/avatars/${g}.gif"][alt]`).join()).forEach(i=>{if(!a[i.alt])return;const w=i.width,h=i.height;i.onload=()=>{i.width=w;i.height=h};i.src=a[i.alt]})}({'Justlooking51':'https://s3.amazonaws.com/pix.iemoji.com/images/emoji/apple/ios-12/256/face-with-monocle.png','ComradePete':'https://res-1.cloudinary.com/crunchbase-production/image/upload/c_lpad,h_256,w_256,f_auto,q_auto:eco/v1463082785/hsdtw4l7cusrrg47dg6b.png'}));
Near the end you find the mapping of usernames (case-sensitive!) to the avatar. Apart from Justlooking51 it was actually pretty hard to find other TT contributors that use the default avatar. Anyway, the mapping is in curly brackets:
- usernames and avatars are put in quotes, either single (') or double ("), as long as the opening quote matches the closing quote
- username/avatar pairs are separated by commas from other pairs
- usernames and their matching avatars are separated by colons
{'userName1':'avatarUrl1','userName2':'avatarUrl2','userNameX','avatarUrlX'}
Change/add as many as you like.

Tested in the forums and on profile pages.

Enjoy!

Edit: fixed issue with breaking default avatars fox which no replacement was given

It took me a while to figure out what to use as an avatar. I finally settled on one of my own photos of a scene in my neighborhood. It doesn't have a deeper meaning than that, but I think it looks pretty good.

By the way, I don't get into many political discussions on here - at least not recently.

Well, I'm an old white man and I have an avatar! I scrolled through the photos on my phone until I found one I liked. I'm not sure it has any deeper meaning beyond looking good. Well, maybe it does because I write about New York so much.

By the way, get off my lawn!
Everyone should have an avatar other than those default red and white ones. Seems half or more of the people on here have only them and no bio.
