GRrRrR! Story/Poem Formatting

AAAAAARGH! Please help me!

Why, whenever I go to preview my poem or story does it re-format it? When I post from a Word document into the entry field, it automatically does this thing where it either double spaces it (I HATE that!), or puts something like two extra enters and a space (randomly), and when I want to post a poem in seperate verses, it sticks the whole thing together in one long dribble?

WHYYYYYY? Regardless of whether I choose "Clean Word Format" or not (whatever the fudge THAT means), and I frequently do both trying to make it work the way I want it to, WHYYYY does it keep changing it? WHY WHY WHY? Is it to make sure only unflappable, cool people can post? Is it part of the posting gauntlet, to make sure we really, really want to share our stuff? What IS it??? WHY is it???

PLEASE help me! My braincell is very small and needs handling with care and it's about to fall out again, and I have run out of ducktape.

Do you even know what I am talking about?

PLEEEEASE explain these things to me (not about the braincell, my mum says it's cos I'm Speshull).

Thank you. Love Daisy

Depending on the version of Word, you get all kinds of horrible invisible formatting junk code thrown in with each document. The clean word format feature here doesn't seem compatible with all versions.

The best thing to do is to copy the story into notepad or wordpad first (which use a flat file format, like the one we use), and when you have it looking right in there, then post it into our submission box.

Let me know if that helps please!

Yeah, I never had any problem posting...I have no idea what you're talking about here...

Actually, I always end up posting poems somewhere else first before I post them here or SS...it could be a poetry site, a Facebook group...even if you post it in the forum here and then delete it later...really, pretty much anywhere other than Lush or SS you won't have a problem...then just copy and paste from there...

If you attempt to paste a poem directly from any MS program, including MS Works, directly into the submission form either here or SS, you'll end up wasting more time trying to fix it than it's worth...

Take it from someone who's submitted a few poems here in the last three years...

You know you want it, you know you need it bad...get it now on Amazon.com...

What is SS?

Our sister site, storiesspace.com (a mainstream version of lush).
Hi Lushies - I seem to be having problems uploading pics to my gallery. Is this a site problem anyone else is also experiencing ? Or, maybe the pics just aren't 'hot' enough !!

Blonde moment alert !! I've posted this question in completely the wrong place - sorry chaps
Ha ha, swollen! Want some coffee? I'm just going to get some!

Thank you for the replies! I did notice just now when I pasted from Word (an ancient version) into the Stories Space submission form, nowt came up, but it was just as it should be. But it was a story, rather than a poem, and I can't remember if I had to re-jig the poem or not.

So next time on Lush (if there is one!), I will try an experiment...
