Changes to image galleries

I have made some changes to the profile image gallery.

- On your settings page you can now order the images so they can appear in a pre-defined order.
- You can now make comments on your friends images. Simply click the image, or the comment count link.
- I have increased the size of the image gallery to 20mb (psst, dont tell nic)

As always, if you see any problems with the site, please let me know.

I like that you can now re-order the pics, but can we have the option to disable comments please? Also, is there any way to make it to where you can't copy the image and take it god knows where? Before the changes you couldn't do it, now you can.

Flickr does a great job of this by creating a 'spaceball' image if you try to copy photo images... Not sure how difficult that is to reproduce though... But I'm sure a lot of us would really appreciate it in terms of feeling secure/private about what pics we choose to share.

My gallery will not let me add any more pics...I have deleted several have only 5 in there and tells me I have 2mb of storage only...

I'm using 400% of my allowance, with -7.09 mb left? We can no longer flip through images? I do like being able to rearrange, but this seems to be a mixed bag. I don't mind comments as an option, but each user should have control over allowing or disallowing comments.

Hope you dont mind if I make a suggestion Gav! But when you open the picture (to view and comment), can we get a next button? Instead of having to close the photo and having to click on the other one you wish to see.

You can copy an image you want by taking a screen shot anyway.

You can copy an image you want by taking a screen shot anyway.


that's true but it's an extra step- no, it's not foolproof and nothing is, but the right click didn't copy before, now it does. Is there a way to disable everyone from seeing your photos without deleting them all? I'd like to hide them in the meantime if I can.

What would I do without your valuable feeback!

I have just uploaded a new version that:

- Allows you to disable comments on your photo's (privacy section of your settings page)
- You can no longer right click to save image as.
- Fixed a problem with the Add friends link not working.

I'll add the navigation in for the other image's in the gallery tomorrow.

I was haveing my morning coffee across the ocean and I saw changes in my image gallery, of course I delited my entire 3 photos ..
.. I am pleasently suprised how things are working here, very effective and promptly job you (the whole team) are doing here on Lush.
Thank you for giving me comfort that this is safe and fun site to be on.

I think I've fixed up the outstanding issues with the image gallery changes.

- The % used and remaining space should now be correct (I've allocated 50mb of storage)
- There are next and previous buttons to cycle through the images.

If there are any more problems/concerns please let me know.

Like Necho said, there are ways of getting pics that have right-click disabled.

I think you have to go back to the general rule of the internet: don't post pics in public if you want your privacy.

Thanks for the option of disabling comments. I've already seen the problems comments can make.

I tried this procedure yesterday. And it can be done.

But it also required at least three programs, (all of which cost a bit of money to acquire) and I doubt it easily can be accomplished with any freeware or shareware, unless someone is really a dedicated photo manipulator with many weeks of practice and the right software.

I am one of those people and have been since the mid 90s. No classes taken, no formal instruction, plenty of self-taught and probably not very well self-taught at that, but enough to get 'the job done' for my cares and pleasure working with graphics.

The process took me a total of 2 minutes to grab one of my right-click protected photos off of my profile and then save with the screenprint-native Windows XP function - create to another file format and save...open in another program, crop - resize (it is blurry too I should add) -- Since you're not grabbing the entire original resolution, save again...open with third program and retouch with lightening/contrast (this process took another 2 minutes) and I ended up with a reasonable facsimile, but a very poor copy of my original.

Take that right-click protection away from Lush - however, and it is a simple point, right-mouse click and save-as-function, takes all of 1.5 to 5 seconds with a fast processor in your pc and a fast internet connection.

I'm a proponent of right click disable.

Ms She, the right-click has now been disabled. This should stop most people (apart from WMM of course!) from taking a copy of your pictures.

..as far as my image gallery goes I will stik with 'Roccotool rule'.
