I am still hoping nicola will make it an optional, and I can get the badge without it

I understand. I think I just jumped the gun, because I really wanted to get it out of the way as painlessly as possible. I got heat over it, but that's not what really upset me. I actually had a sick feeling in my stomach for days. You know that feeling you get when you wake up after a bad dream? That's how it felt, so I changed it to and put it in a completely different category.
You've worked SO HARD to get that badge, I hope you can. Good luck

I have three famous stories, 2 recommended reads and have come in the top ten in two competitions~ Come in and make yourself at home.

Thanks. I was really happy when I was initially going for the badge and the category was removed. I breathed a deep sigh of relief that I did not have to face that dilemma, and now it is back. ANYONE that ever got that badge worked hard for it. And now it will be even harder to earn it for newer Lushies. Those who had the badge or were close, and have stories they can move do have a leg up. I did see that there were a few that already were within a few stories of regaining the badge, unless like me, they have a moral objection or particular distaste to one or two categories.
I am not a badge collector and so I'm not even looking at getting Omnium. That said, I've had a "kissing cousins" story in mind that I might write someday since that relationship isn't a problem to my mind (for the reason, as mentioned, that it is actually legal in many constituencies including, IIRC, my own). For the record, I'm also fairly mellow on adult siblings in certain situations (e.g. I once heard an interview where two siblings separated in infancy/early childhood fell for each other when they unknowingly reunited) but don't plan to write anything like that. The ones that bother me are adults with younger (parent-child in particular) even if the ages are upped to Lush-safe levels. If the relatives in question are of a comparable age and there's not a power imbalance, I'm cool with it.
LXXX if perfect on so many levels. Now, that’s Lush

I'm up for the challenge.

I have one more story to go which is in progress.

I plan to get the badge back soon.

Thanks to Nicola and all the moderating staff for challenging us all with new and exciting categories.

Hugs and Kisses,

My money is on you, babe! There was never a doubt in my mind that you'd be on this like a cat on a June bug. You're sort of the Nora Roberts of smut after all, and how you crank out so much work (either you or Nora) I still have no idea. Okay, the clock is ticking...

I completed all 51 categories and await my new badge.

Something that kinda concerns me is there are so many categories, some writers will submit crap every other day, worse than we've seen before. It may overwhelm the mods and take longer for stories to post.

Doubt it. There aren't going to be that many people trying for the Omnium badge, and that's really the only reason to go crazy for new categories. Maybe people had a few ideas or WIPs that didn't fit well with the existing categories, but that shouldn't be overwhelming.

The glut is likely to come from I.F. stories getting re-upped.

I may eventually get to Omninum. I was working my way there, starting to post some shorts tailored to the categories I hadn't hit, and then got blasted with 11 more LOL

Horror may be easy, because I already have a couple I haven't posted, but I have to look at what's already been approved and see just how "horror" the category is. These are dark stories that I assumed wouldn't pass muster in Supernatural. Have to see if Horror has a little more edge.

Having given this matter consideration, I don't really want to have more than one badge with the word, "Omnium" in it.

How about, on top of the existing Ominium badge (translation from Latin, meaning "All") we add a badge for authors published in 80%+ of our categories? That way, you can leave out any categories you don't wish to write in.

There are 51 categories at present.

If we introduce a new badge, what should we call it?

"Naughty 40" - published in 40+ categories.

"Eager Beaver"

"Mélange"

"Medley"

Any suggestions?

Best of the restomnium badge.

I think that's fair enough to be honest.
Reading this thread, I'm shocked to see so many people with such a strong aversion to stories. This is an adult site with adult themes. fantasy is part and parcel of that. Plus I've read far worse than in books I've bought from my local bookstore or picked up in the library.

I've grown up on an unhealthy diet of British crime books, books that glamorize crime, sex and violence. Authors such as Martina Cole, Mandasue Heller, Jessie Keane, Kimberly Chambers. Read a Richard Laymon book and see what you find in there -- the guy's a proper monger.

I understand it's not everybody's taste, but don't slag it off. Just ignore it if it bothers you.
Here's an idea just for grins... how about making qualification bars like the military do such as this. Each one could be a set number of stories written and it would change as they earn more. Just use the Author badge and hang whichever "qualification bar" is appropriate under it.

Furthermore, I can't believe some people call it the "I-word" category. That is remarkably childish. Honestly, grow up. That's the sort of thing people do when they're about 12 years old.

Nicola: Ignore the children. If you need someone to help verify the stories, give me a shout. I'm more than capable, and happy to help. I could do maybe 4-5 per week.
Might I suggest
Omnium for those who wrote in all but IF
Omnium+i for those who wrote in all, including IF
A little kindness can be so valuable, yet costs almost nothing

In many countries being gay is a crime, and even in modern societies, politicians try to legalise discrimination. Your voice can make a difference. Have a look at All Out to find out how.

Hey... pssst.... that's an l (as in luscious) at the end of my name, not an i
This Omnium badge discussion is taking up far too much of people's time.

I / we have over 4,000 back catalogue stories to skim through, as the recovered category contained some drafts too.

That will take weeks, and is a much higher priority than a profile badge.

How about thinking up story ideas for the new categories instead? Go out of your usual comfort zones, write something totally original that blows people away. That would be a much more positive use of everyone's energy and time.

I've done what you asked, Nicola. I went out of my comfort zone and wrote a Monster Sex story. And, lo and behold, it was good enough for a Recommended Read. Thanks to Stormdog.

Thank you nicola. And I am working on the 5 categories I have left. Hope to have them done soon.

I look forward to reading it! =d>

First, there's a small matter of a few more thousand stories to get through!

I know I said this before, but it begs to be repeated. I still think this is a good idea especially since the Vault is a "Paid Perk". Those who really want to read these stories might be willing to pay for the privilege and it would help with the revenue problem that is clearly being touted here.

That is most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in all my life.

Do you honestly think people will pay to read stories on Lush when there are at least a million stories on other sites for free?

The whole point of bringing back is to raise traffic, raise revenue and get the good people back on Lush. How are people going to know that Lush now accepts stories if it's hidden away inside the vault which nobody can access unless they make a payment.

We need to get the word out. I suggest putting a big banner on the homepage saying " STORIES ARE BACK ON LUSH."

The reason people don't call it by the full name is because, other than in the context of a story, the topic is not to be discussed anywhere on Lush. You are new to Lush, but really should read the Rules and Terms of Service. Or if you had read the Sticky directly below this one, about the category being reinstated, you would have seen what was reiterated. To quote Nicola:
The site rules still apply. No forum posts, chat rooms, groups or private messages about this category subject, should be entered into. The story fantasies themselves only are going to be allowed.

Really? I'll show you the post I'm referring to.

I think the I-word category should be optional. I'm also curious if anyone who is offended by the category has been tempted to write an angry story about the I-word, sex scenes included, that shows the true damage it causes, rippling across families and generations.

Are you telling me that if that person had of spelled out the word " " he would have been in breach of site rules? I don't think so. I've seen the word " " spelled out on a t least 6 occasions on this thread alone, and nobody's mentioned it breaking site rules.

His whole post wreaks of childishness. It's someone who has thrown their dummy from the pram because they can't get their own way.

Huh? I can't get my own way? What way was I trying to get? I'm not even anti- story, I was using the term "I-word" because the word " " appears to be a trigger for some here. I think the category is a regrettable necessity.

I was actually suggesting that those who are against the category try writing within the category, and expressing their feelings through fiction rather than post after post of name-calling and angry accusation. I would offer the same advice to you. Please don't drag me into your drama. If fiction doesn't provide catharsis, try a therapist. I don't give a fuck.
I don't think it's at all childish to refer to it as the I-Word. It's no fun to say out loud. Like, it's just not a pretty word. The word unicorn is pretty. Champagne. Fam. Yknow. Some words I love to say and some I can't bear to. Fam fam FAM.

Well, everybody else has spelled out the word " " and nobody seems to have been triggered by it so far.

You're encouraging people to write a story that "shows the true damage it causes, rippling across families and generations". You know full well that stories on Lush are meant to be erotic and titillate, yet you're encouraging people to write daft stories that show the damage causes.

Put that aside and remember we're talking about fictitious stories here, and answer me this: what damage does a fictitious story in text format do to anybody's life?

We're not actually saying the word out loud, though, are we? We're typing it and reading it.

It really isn't coming from being childish. Those of use that were victims of it during childhood can't really face even saying the word.

I'm the same. Cappuccino, linguini, mellifluous, quiver, lacuna, amaranthine... *dreamy sigh*

@Raza - Relax, monkey man. S'all good. The word itself isn't banned, we just discourage the mention of that particular topic anywhere on the site with the exception of published stories. The people who don't use use the word either find it distasteful or are refraining as a consideration to others.

The point is, Liz, this is an adult site. If people are that sensitive that they can't even look at the word " " without being offended, then adult sites are not the best places to be.

I find it disheartening that Nicola is trying to push things forward, trying to evolve the site and encourage more people to use it, thus ensuring the site's future, yet people are trying to put a negative spin on it.

I see things that offend me all the time, but I tolerate it, don't whine about it, because I'm an adult and can tolerate things I don't like. Fictitious stories don't hurt anybody; that's the point I'm making.
