So I'm working on a four book series, which I am posting by the chapter here on Lush. I'd like to offer them as complete E-Books for free on Amazon or Smashwords, when they are finished. Since the cover is really what grabs the attention of a potential downloader, I've been working on mine. These are what I have come up with. Would they grab your attention? Thank you.
I have added them to my signature below.
I like the first one!! I love the background color it really pops. Have you researched what color people like the most? Really great graphics!
These look nice, although, if you don't mind my saying, just changing the background color for each one doesn't do enough to distinguish them. The silhouette and single color background tend to be easy to pass over, not as much there to catch the eye as there might be with a cover photo that shows a wider array of color as well as an image that captures a curious reader's attention. The series title is really good, and that alone should garner interest, but each part being a different story, why not give each one an image that draws more curiosity to what's inside the cover?
It's well worth setting up an acct on a site like DollarPhoto, where you can download photos for a very reasonable price and then use them hassle free as cover images. You can even download a low res comp for free just to experiment and try it on for size.
They look okay, but also homemade. I think Frank Lee has some very good suggestions.
The last three pop more than the first cover.
Maybe try some new fonts that are more up to date. I would suggest not using italic for the title. I like red. Also look at some more distinctive art.
Good Luck!
The swirls/lines in the red cover look good, but in the other three covers, it appears to be a mistake. Hope that helps.
I like the first one. Red can be passion or anger. The image firmly places into the passion category.
