Open Relationships: Tips and Advice

Hey there. About two years ago my partner and I decided an open relationship is more appropriate. I hadn't dated much before her and we've been together a long time. I think I'm ready to start trying to see other people but I realized I don't know how to go about it. My partner and I are open and honest with each other. I know how to approach that when it comes to dating new people.

I know a man in an open relationship isn't what everyone is looking for and I don't want to surprise people with it. So I wanted advice from those of you who are established in open relationships on how you find new partners. How do you find new partners? When do you bring up that you're in an open relationship and how do you do it?

My thoughts are I should use dating apps as you can address that early, maybe even put it in the profile. Has anyone done this before and do you have any suggestions on which apps I should look into?

Thanks,

-Rowan

Never been in an open relationship. I would try here first if there are anyone near you. Because you are getting someone you would have something in common. My son gets all his dates from Tinder.

I’m skeptical of dating apps as they have a lot of scammers. So if you do please be careful.

Are you looking for sex? Do you want your partner involved? I like how both of you are onboard with this. I hope others reply. I’m super curious how people do this.

Looking for sex, but also just some dating and romance. The fun of a new relationship. I really like learning about people and the excitement of those first few dates and seeing if you click. Ultimately though, I’m not looking for anything serious or long-term at this time.

My partner would not be involved. One of the reasons we chose an open relationship was her realizing she’s grey-sexual. For any unfamiliar it’s like asexual except you get short term bursts of sexual desire, but it normally lasts a few days at most in a period of months. Had droughts almost a year long.
