just as everything in life it has pros and cons. have i done it no i havent and dont think i will in near future but it is a good place to find on on same wave length as you and could lead to great things. i have know some to get married only to find it was a front mainly because someone was looking for meal ticket and again others have had good luck with it. take it as you do other things in life and use caution and whatever rows you boat go for it
I went on various sites at the beginning of the year and all I would say is that, as in meeting people in a pub etc, just be careful. There are some genuine people on there and there are some just looking for a good time. Usually, in their profile, they will say whether they are looking for a friend, relationship or NSA (no strings attached).

I am much older than a large percentage of you and thing that threw me the most was younger men getting in touch with me, that I found quite bizarre.

As long you have your wits about you, you should be ok.

Good luck with the hunt
I was once in a.. I guess you could say. Long distance relationship. Even though we both talked to other people. I women, her men. But I never really felt like it was a relationship. Al though I never met her, she helped me through a lot by just having someone to talk to about problems and not be judged.
"Do you want to live to work or work to live"

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing"

"Always hold you head up high, never come off weak"

I've met my boyfriend online, and we met in person February 2010. We've been together for four years now. He's going to come down again this February... we plan to get married then. He's been my first relationship, and everything has been going great, although the distance has been pretty hard on the both of us. I guess it's a mixture of internet dating and a long distance relationship.
I tried Match Affinity, and had met a few guys years ago when I was in school on msn chat rooms. The msn chat rooms faired a lot better.

But with Match Affinity, I met some guys who were a little odd or just not my type. Or just looking for sex and nothing else which isn't me at all.

It hasn't worked out for me, but other people have more success. I have since decided that I'll eaither meet a guy the old fashioned way but if not I'd rather just be single then be with the wrong person

Both of my brothers met their wives online. I used to think it sort of strange, but have since realized how much of a relationship you can build with someone online. I consider my friendships with online buddies to be every bit as real as those with people I've met face to face.

My cousin met her love online, he was from the UK, and when they met up they were just so perfect, they got married soon after and now have children

As for me, most of my relationships have been done online, why? I'm plain shy with new people and heck I don't even have any close ranged friends and having an overly protective mother and man hating aunts(I love them to bits anyway) made it worse. Currently in a relationship with a guy I fell for after getting to know him on , NO not a dating site, but on a game forum. We had mutual interests and from the game forums we got onto Ventrilo and from there MSN and two days later video chatting. I'll cut the story short, he confessed his feelings to me and said he even cried because he was afraid that it would just backfire and ruin the friendship we had. Lol guess what? We've been together nearly 7 months and we're still going strong.

Sorry for the long read guys
I tried match.com for awhile at one point...i met up with one person off of it and we didnt really click. Any other girl I tried to message and get to know..i never got any responses. So I gave up.
Pros and cons... I met a few women on dating websites... had a lot of sex... also met my girlfriend online on dating direct affinity... we've been together now for nearly three years... it works but you have to work at it.
Internet dating---sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I was dating a girl online for about a month. I'll call her "Bella". Well recently "Bella" can't make time for me and now she says she can't have a relationship right now. What gets me is everyone in my social circle warned me I would wind up getting hurt. And this 'right now' business. What the hell does that mean? Four days before Valentine's Day and I get a lousy text.
Anyone thinking about internet dating should watch the 48 Hours episode 'Screenplay for Murder' [http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7397746n] about a guy who posed as a woman on PLENTYOFFISH in order to lure men into an ambush. It re-enforces the rule MEET IN A PUBLIC PLACE!! I do have a male friend I met online several years back, but most meetings with people met online were 1 time. I would seriously suggest to make the first 3 meetings someplace public and use a pre-paid cel phone for dating. Reason for the 3 dates is to give the person time to trip on their own lies. I've met some really convincing liars. One gal was an "orphan with no family left" yet 2 weeks later her mom and 2 brothers threw her a b-day party.
hmmmmm i actually met my now partner of nearly 4 yrs in may.....on the internet......love at first site!!!!!
I recently joined Plenty More Naughty Fish and i firmly believe its a total scam. Within minutes of joining I received about 10 messages and loosely speaking all entitled somethinh like Aloha or Hi and looking at the message content I would gamble they were system generated. Few people on the site place any photographs and sometimes put like 5 words in their profile. All this for £30 a month !! I have had probably 15 messages effectively trying to lure me to other sites, in particular naughtgirlsonline which of course the message say is free .. is it hell !!. Also messages trying to sell me online security ID verification at £3 a day since .. quote I really want to meet you but need to know that I will be safe (I do note the post above however). In all its been a complete farce and £30 literally down the drain. I think the site pays a couple of people to send out messages trying to keep members interest alive. I will be cancelling the membership before they take the next payment.
http://www.pof.com/ always used to be free. I'm not sure which site you joined John, make sure you only join a large reputable one, that's my advice.
reading this was actually quite refreshing! i thought i'd read a lot of stereotypical thoughts ppl had of online dating. i think you can find a partner ANYWHERE!! if you can meet a potential date while standing in line, why can't you meet someone on a site dedicated to a particular interest? i haven't had luck with online dating, but my meeting them online had nothing to do with it. i'm not searching for anything, but if i happen to stumble upon it, why the hell not?! ;-)

Say. Her. Name.

A lot of people have success on free adult social network type sites....just sayin'
I know a woman who is in her mid 40's and very attractive. She tried the internet dating thing (not sure what site) and met a few real losers and was about to give up and then she met a really great guy and they have been together for a few years now.

I guess it isnt much different then meeting people in bars, clubs, etc. except you have the luxary of getting know them a little before you meet in person.

The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
