How Many Famous Stories?

I write because I enjoy writing. But I also love it when I know people have appreciated my work.

I guess I could be more tactical or cynical (depending on how you view it) and friend loads of people to increase the number of readers and votes. I think some of my stories have been pretty darn good and it is a little irksome to read some poorly written stories with high numbers of views/votes. But I made a decision a while back to only have people as friends who I actually talk to.

But as with everything in life I think you need people close to you who will be honest with you. People you trust to give an honest opinion and not flatter you. Theirs are the only opinions that really matter. I'm lucky to have two such people on here.

I would imagine as far as views go that the majority of views come from non-members. Only members can vote and comment. So yes the analogy of friends would work there.

I think the true verdict of whether a story is a success or not makes up a concensus of a lot of factors....views, comments, ratings, how the author feels about the story, etc.

Somewhat disturbingly, anything in the category with the tags "daddy daughter" gets a shit load of views. Hey - give the public what they want I guess. I've never read one myself so I won't pass comment if they're actually any good.

Apparently 603 authors on here have the Famous Story badge - which is about 1 in 10 authors.

But that doesn't really tell the whole story. It's getting much harder to become the author of a famous story. Those who have joined Lush in the last 3 years have about a 1 in 20 chance of being the author of a famous story, that rises to 1 in 100 if you joined in the last 12 months. For authors who joined over three years ago, about 1 in 4 have the Famous Story badge.

Wondering, out of how many Authors? How many total Author's do we have. Of course I'm sure that counts people who have left Lush and no longer write either but their work still is seen.

I just joined six months ago, and have hope of getting a famous story soon. Regardless of the section it's in.

I haven't even written that many stories in total. Three of mine have passed 30,000 views with a fourth coming pretty close. It's only two months old and in the straight sex category so I'm very happy with that one. smile

There's a few as well missing off that list. If you do a member search for people with the badge it comes up with 60 lushies instead of the last 36 you see if you click on the badge. [MEMBER SEARCH LINK]

Yes it's in "that" section but for my first time putting pen to paper with the intent to write a story I am extremely proud of myself.

I still get stoked when I get a new Famous Story. I am less than 60 views on one that will give me 30 Famous Stories, and that does not include 3 Legendary Stories. My most viewed story has just passed 220,000 views.

I now officially have 30 Famous stories, not including 3 Legendary Stories. I do have 2 more stories with over 29,000 views heading toward Famous. I am sure not every person reads the entire story, but probably a high percentage that click on a story do read it. It's really exciting to have a lot of people read your artistic erotic creation. It is very inspiring.

I'm watching one of my first stories here, Officer Friendly, and hoping for the same results. I may have moved it up on my stories list and joked with Frank_Lee that I was going to race him, since we were both pretty close... but I lost by a landslide about a week later. lol (What? A girl can dream!)

It took me 2.5 years to finally have a story that shot up to a Famous Story in two months. I guess most of my supernatural and sci-fi stuff isn't as popular as I would hope. I'm hoping over time more of my pieces will reach this goal... and maybe one day... I'll get a Legendary Story. I'm not sure why more people don't read my stories... but I do know that more and more are getting read as time goes one. Even the early pieces are getting some love from time to time.

So... I say having one story that is now Famous doesn't suck. If you're wondering... it's my only Christmas story & my only anal story... All She Wants For Christmas. It was the one that must have hit a chord with the readers because it's has more views than any other story... and some combined. Thank you to all who read it and made it Famous.
