Picture uploads

This seems to happen every few weeks, works fine then will not upload at all.

If you're talking about gif files? yes I noticed since last December, it took three hours for a 360k File to appear.

I set up ten two days ago and have not showed up yet. jpegs and MP4 are fine

Media uploads are processed by two different routines. One for static files and the other for non-static (gifs and videos). Gifs are typically converted into video MP4 files and yes processing can take a considerable time since these file types are so very popular.

Days ago, I uploaded GIFs along with still photos but the GIFs never showed up. I noticed from previous uploads that that GIFs may take minutes to several hours to upload so I slept on it. Yesterday, I test uploaded 3 GIFs from that batch and the 3 were added right away.

Also yesterday, I've been uploading 2 photos of spicy pork floss buns. 319kb and 325kb jpg files. I uploaded them in a private custom album, default Public album and the Misc just 2 check if it will appear in any. They never showed up.

Whenever I upload from Lushmail (to send to a friend), I get the Down for Maintenance error message. I think it's not only me who experienced that.

However, the 4 photos of tanghulu I uploaded for test upload (also yesterday) were immediately added.

I checked and tried uploading the buns again today. They're still missing. Please help me find the missing spicy pork floss buns before they go stale.🤭

Kidding aside, is there an ongoing (intermittent) issue as regards the upload of still and motion images? (GIF, jpg, jpeg, webp)

I found a scone, with butter and jam but no cream, a croissant and a large slice of chocolate cake, which sorry I ate so it is now gone. I will ask the development team to check that all appears well with the media processing queues. The Down for Maintenance page (admittedly a somewhat misleading name) is indicative of a timeout and that could be for a number of reasons or combined reasons, e.g. system load, network performance, image size etc. etc. Typically you will not see that problem at another time.

Thanks I tried uploading again in the Public album. The pics don't show.

I still got another Down for Maintenance while uploading it via Lushmail. Network connection was good, jpg files under 350kb.

Are you still having problems and if so is it with specific images?

I was typing a reply much earlier but was lost when I switched to a different app so I waited a tad bit longer to give it (uploaded images) more time before I tell you that none but only the video showed up. I'm patient enough. It's only a little frustrating when I have time and in the mood to upload but the files don't appear. Also, I have at least 1500+ image space left so I have enough wiggle space to upload.

A few hours ago, I uploaded different images in the KOFIMIDA album:

• six 115-340 Kb .jpg files

• 6-sec 6.74 MB .mp4 video

• 22.63 MB .gif

I also sent different small .jpg and .gif to two different friends via Lushmail upload. The Down for Maintenance screen of death showed in about 5 seconds.

Highlights:

• the video was uploaded in the album right away

• the GIF that I uploaded around 4:30 am-ish** appeared around early 6 am-ish

• the GIF that I uploaded at 5:05am appeared after the 6:27am GIF upload

• the GIF that I uploaded at 6:27am appeared several minutes later

(I added the current time during my upload in the description for tracking)

Lowlights:

• An observation from past uploads months ago, when GIFs don't appear post upload within the hour, they either show up in doubles or triples even if the those were uploaded only once. Otherwise, they don't appear at all.

• the missing .jpg and .gif images from yesterday and days ago are still missing

• as of today, uploaded .jpg files still don't appear even if the files upload to 100% significantly fast.

• The Down for Maintenance message still shows up in Lushmail for attachment uploads. I swear those aren't unsolicited nudes 😂

I am going to run some test programs against your account so please do not be alarmed when you see some media messages inbound and outbound.

Edit - I have made a report to the development team. I didn't have any issue with static files and some smaller gifs. One gif file, not large by any means, I tried to send as a message several times and always got the DFM page. I will post feedback when I receive some.

Thanks John. I saw the test images. I'll do test uploads of different images sometime later when I've sobered up.

Did you find out why the stills are missing?

Update: 13 out of 28 still images are missing. 🙁

No. I will PM you about that.

So typically the DFM page is indicative of a timeout so that will generally mean it is network performance related. In respect of WebP files they were not being uploaded but that has now been rectified.

Thanks for rectifying the webp files upload. That'll be awesome because webp files load faster as well. The samples and missing files were jpg ones. I'll attempt to reupload soon. 🌻

Sorry it took me longer than planned. I appreciate your patience and assistance. A tin of biscuits is on your way.

Update:

All 10 test .jpg files I uploaded around 1pm UK time from the missing batch days ago were successfully uploaded. I'll upload a chunk of smut later. 🤞🏻🥳

About the Lushmail DFM, I'm not sure if it's a network problem. I tried on both stable and fast mobile data and WiFi connection. The 1st attempt was done on mobile data immediately after the successful batch around 1pm UK time then around 3pm on WiFi. Both resulted to a DFM. Attaching an image from the album wasn't an issue though.

Not even reading that until the biscuits arrive... sorry.

I have done some more testing this morning with uploads and messages and they all worked just fine. As I said previously the DFM page indicates a network performance issue such that the server responds with a timeout. Perhaps when you have some time you could run this routine when you next have that failure and let me have the results.

I am unable to upload pictures to any of my folders, public or private, today. The images are all B&W and around 750kb max. The Upload popup says all is well, but nothing shows up on any of my devices (all running Chrome). I've tried morning, noon, and just now. I am nearing my 10k limit, if that has any bearing.

Is the pic queue jealous of all the attention the story backlog is getting?

You have indeed reached the 10k limit. The total you see on your profile, 9.6k, does not include the content of your Misc album which is circa 400. Thanks for the biscuits

Thank you. I thought about buying a second platinum as kistinscamera, but maybe that's not allowed. I'll start manually deleting pictures instead, starting with the ones never looked at, which should clear away about half the pages.

I'm glad the biscuits satisfied. I was going to bring the tray of brownies Sprite made me, but one never knows...

It has been pointed out by folks that some members have way more than the 10k image limit -- Ginaisacougar, for example, has 50.1k in one account and 10k more in a second. Is this a roll over from Lush1 or can increased space be purchased over the usual membership fee?

I'm okay with the limit if it has to be, but it's a time-consuming drudge deleting pictures one at a time.

Hmmm.. I will look at that but to confirm, as long as you behave yourself... coughs, you are permitted to have more than one account. However, say you have two and you want something, that's two tins of biscuits. Furthermore please note I prefer Lindt chocolate.
