As the second named author on a co-author publication, I've not received a notification about its publication and am not receiving any updates regarding it via my Timeline. Is this normal?

Hiya, yeah they only go to the first named person unfortunately. I've done a few collabs and I just need to keep peeking in to the story to see any updates.
How incredibly frustrating.

Thank you for your reply, Jen xxx

Hi CG, I am so sorry that you do not get the acknowledgment you deserve for co-writing this story with me! I so enjoyed collaborating on this wonderful story but without your invaluable input it would not have been as powerful as it is. Thank you once again - next time you take the lead role! X

Perhaps something for the thread on changes we would like to see would be to beef up the co-author functionality. I'm a co-author on a couple stories that I helped a new author with years ago and, yeah, I need to remember to check on them from time to time (though both have been fairly successful).
