Adding media to albums

This has stopped working today. I get the pop-up of a successful upload, but the image never shows up in any album. I have done the usual -- ctrl/reload, purge cookies, log out/in, but with no joy.

I see that the Gallery has not added any images since this morning, so it seems the whole process is off line.

I've had this problem since Sunday morning. Same when you try to post media on another's profile.

Phew, thought it was just me. I was trying to add some stuff to a folder yesterday and... crickets.

If it's not been raised already I'll do it now. Thanks for the report.

It is fixed now — for the moment!

I reported it in a bug report today, but I'm having issues uploading media as well. Some seem to upload while others say they upload only for them to not appear in the album upon refreshing the page. Not sure why some upload and others don't. They're all the same file type.

I've noticed that sometimes there's a delay between uploading and the image appearing in the designated folder. Sometimes it's almost immediate, sometimes it can take a minute or so.

I'm not sure why. Might be file size. Might be server load. Or maybe incoming shots are batched for moving to the media server, or are run through some automated checker that takes a little time to process.

I don't think I can add gifs still.

There's a processing issue with uploading gifs just now - Dan is looking into this. Linking gifs are still working, I think it's exclusively uploading that's the issue. ❤

It appears adding media is not working at all now. After numerous tries, I only get "Server responded with 0 code" and the upload progress cycles endlessly.

I cant upload media either. When I try, several times today, it let's me select and then I click done and it hasn't loaded any. Hope you can help.

It takes a while for images to process. You'll see them soon in your desired uploaded album.

Image loading is extremely slow at this time. A single image took more than 14 hrs yesterday. I posted 4 this morning at 9:30 am pst. It is now 5:14 pm and I'm still waiting. In that time only 2 new pages have been loaded to the Gallery. They include numerous duplicates, including one 6 times in a row. Unless there is a deluge of posts happening somewhere else, the mice hauling things up from the loading dock need some stronger vitamins. 😐

This is common when media is uploaded on a Tuesday. Its best to avoid that day of the week. However I have just asked the development team to check if there are any issues with media processing. I will advise back in due course.

Edit - 2 minute response from the development team:

'There's a backlog. 926 in the queue. Oldest one in there is from 13 hours ago. I think someone has uploaded a massive batch'

That was last October. Supposedly changes were made recently to speed things along. I have not seen any sign of it.

Perhaps a benefit can be added to Platinum -- priority image handling. It took less time to get my last Micro approved than yesterday's image.

Images were uploading properly last time we spoke about this subject. Site has been acting up since yesterday, for me.

They didn't let Sprite make the eggnog again did they? Last year it took Jen till New Years to find her panties and John... well, it grew out eventually.

Morning images just posted -- 9 hours

I have asked the development team to have a read of the latest posts.

Apparently at the time of posting this there is a sizeable backlog of media (a few hundred) still to process and of course that keeps getting added too. I personally suspect the queue never gets to zero or anywhere close. The development team have made some changes to the processing routine which have helped but they are going to think again what else can be done to speed it up. I suggested excluding all photos that contain genitalia, fruit and vegetables and house bricks. They are not keen on that idea. 😋

Yes, ive gotten some but not all. Seems to be coning in but slow. Guess just wait for them. Thanks.

The new layout for media is impossible! I have more than the average number of pictures and GIFs which used to load on separate pages. This way I could navigate to (roughly) where I knew images to be. Now all the media is on the same page that loads a few images at a time as you scroll. I timed it last night.....over 45 minutes to load all my images.....then my computer reloaded the page as it was “using significant memory”. This meant it all started again.....another 45 minutes to load. Please change it back! Please!!!

I got this message after loading about 50 .gifs and vids. I personally don't look at my media to post images elsewhere except the chatroom and get the entire catalog.

After a refresh, images began to load normally.

Remember, sometimes it's our own device/Wi-Fi playing tricks on us.

I agree. Infiniscroll is fine for a social site that has no footer and no intended end to content, but for managing one's media it's a poor UX choice.

Pagination with distinct page refreshes between (i.e. not asynchronous requests) is more browser and device friendly anyway. Keeps memory usage down, and performance up.
