I read an article by Brad Hammer about this, in the Huffington Post. I looked up a list of gay porn actors in The Sword and found that of the 100, 23 were straight and of those, 19 had been a bottom in films.
Do you think that a guy can really identify as straight when he makes a living by having a cock in his ass?
Why would a straight man pick such a profession? If it is purely money, why not do straight porn.
In straight porn, the pay is pretty much crap.

Or so I've heard...

My life has no meaning, no direction, no aim. No purpose. But I'm happy. I can't wrap my head around this. What the fuck am I doing right?

I understand that the pay is between double and treble.
I just find it hard to get my head round it. I'd understand if they were a top but not a bottom.
I guess one of the benefits of being a bottom means that they don't have to be hard, so they can just get it done without worrying about not getting turned on by being with another guy. As well, it's less 'proactive', so maybe they can zone out and disassociate more if they're just taking it?

This was an interesting interview with porn star James Deen. In the interview, he sees the physical act of sex and actual attraction as two separate things that don't have to be aligned, even when it comes to orientation. I guess it's a little more extreme but not totally different in principle to what any porn star does if they're not into their costar and just going through the motions.

Were you uncomfortable having to kiss another guy in this movie?

Not really. I've kissed other dudes in my life, so it's not really a big deal. I have this conversation a lot because there is still a lot of homophobia in the world and in adult films, when you're sharing a scene with another dude and a lady, sometimes certain things come up: gay this, gay that. The way I define gay or homosexuals is a sexual attraction to a member of the same sex. I fully believe that people can engage in any sort of activity. Like I hate basketball, but I've played basketball before and it doesn't make me a professional basketball player. That [gay-sex] scene was a very important part of the movie, because it kind of represents the power switch. I think Bret was really worried I wouldn't want to do it. It's part of the script. It's not like it's real life. I'm not shooting a porno where I have to get physically erect and have sex with a dude. I think it was kind of a weight off of everyone's shoulders that I wasn't going to create an issue with it.

Feel free to tell me to mind my own fucking business, but have you had sexual contact with a guy off screen?

Yeah, I feel like there is that college period in the majority of people's lives where they are getting to know themselves and they are experimenting with their sexuality and trying different things and having different thoughts and stuff like that. When I was younger, I would have a moment where I was like, I don't know, maybe I like guys, maybe I like girls, what is life? I experimented and I never really… I'm not attracted to dudes. I kinda sometimes feel bad about that, I feel like I'm supposed to be because I hang out in San Francisco so much and people make me feel really bad for being a straight, white dude and I feel like I'm doing something wrong for being a straight white dude.

No, you're fine. You know, I'm gay, and I have to confess to not being entirely familiar with your porn work, so I don’t know if you’ll have an opinion about this or not: I think that double penetration, especially like two dicks in one hole is a real gay thing to do. You know, I mean you're using a hole basically to rub your dick against another guy's.

I think if you're using hole to rub your dicks against another guy's, then yeah, it's a pretty homosexual activity but [not] if you and another dude together are having sex with a girl. The difference between a homosexual D.P. and a straight D.P. is when I go up to a girl and I'm like, “Oh my god, I want to see you just be a dirty little slut and do all these filthy things, I would love you to fuck two cocks at the same time, that would be so fucking hot, I want to be in that fucking hole,” that's kind of a straight D.P. A gay D.P. is me going up to you and being like, “Hey bro, know what we should do? We should go find a girl and wrap her around our penises and rub our penises together. Let's go find a girl to D.P.” I feel like it’s the motivation.

I think topping might actually be more proof of inherent bisexuality/homosexuality than bottoming. You can suck a dick as a mechanical exercise as opposed to something you want to do. You can catch without enjoying it. But if your cock is hard and you're taking the active role, you have to be at least a little bit into it, right? Can't fake an erection.

Not my thing. Play for pay is bringing a whore. No matter your orientation. My butt hole is exit only. No matter what is offered.

Strange that you even look in this forum. Methinks he professeth too much!

I'm straight and just answered the question asked on the main page. I didn't log onto the gay forum. Seemed a no brainier to me that if a person gay or straight takes money for sex, that would be prostitution. Like I also said. Not my thing.

I was joking.
Yes, acting in porn is prostitution. The question is, why a guy would do gay porn when he's straight? Is it purely for the money?
I would then again it could be curiosity or a lack of circumstances

Yeah, that was my thought. "So you clicked into the LGBT forum just to make sure we know you're not? Hmmmm...."
Filmmaking is long, horrible hours. Porn actors frequently pop Viagra or Cialis pills to keep up an erection for an entire day of filming, some of them even going so far as one of those straight-into-the-cock injections. I've heard them called "TriMix".

It hardly sounds like fun sex, but work is always work. If you go gay-for pay, it's at least possible to become an in-demand pornographic actor. On the straight side of the fence, those roles are usually reserved for female actors unless you're James Deen. Chances are, you're probably not James Deen.

Straight women produce lesbian porn all the time - people don't stumble over that for a second. Why is it that men don't see gay-acting the same way?

Conversely, couldn't a gay male pretend to be straight without it actually skewing his sexuality?

I'm not talking about producing it, I'm talking about being in it.
Women also get paid more for lesbian porn, so the same question applies.

That's what I'm referring to, being in it. People don't seem to puzzle so much when women do it.
Maybe you are, though.

We're talking about people who aren't attracted to each other to begin with (even goes for straight) having sex.

It's not the same as two people hooking up on a weekend or being married. They're paid to have sex, that's the driving concept.

Your sexuality and attraction doesn't seem to factor in much, that's not the point.

They are not approaching sex in porn in the same way you or I might approach sex for enjoyment / love / need.

The vast majority of straight porn actors only do straight porn. The few that cross over, I think, must have some bisexuality, even if they state that they are straight.

Some people just don't see sex as anything more than a fuck.

I'm not bisexual or necessarily attracted to women, but I've had sex with them. *shrug

LMAO! Me too.
I would class myself as gay but when I was younger I wanted sex and it was easier to get it with girls.
Where did you live when you were younger, dpw? It was always far, far easier for young me to find sex with men than women. So much so that when the subject of one's sexual history number came up recently, I was able to readily add up my female number but had to estimate my male one.

It was when I was at university in Hertfordshire, in a small town with no gay scene.
As far as numbers of different women goes, the figure is single digit.

One of the things I'm most grateful for is that I was in California when I realized I like men. I grew up in Appalachia, it would have been a much more isolated experience there. I sometimes have to remind myself that my experience of being queer has been incredibly fortunate in that I've spent my adult life in San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle.

And as far as actual numbers go, my partner and I have been participating in sex-positive communities for twenty years. My number is a byproduct of that. Sharing a large number on the internet is like claiming one's cock is big or that one is rich, so I'll just shut up.

You certainly are lucky. I have fond memories of a holiday in Frisco. There seemed to be plenty of sex available.
The rest will be in a pm to you.

I shall wait with bated breath.

I told a mate that I was thinking of doing some gayporn but I'm bi anyway. The site that wanted me was boynapped and it was abit much for me. The money wasn't great and I wanted more seeing as I was a fresh 18 year old lad.

He is straight and it turns out he looked in to it and did a few casual scenes for young hung Brits.

He is straight but said it was a good experience.

I once read an interview with "gay for pay" performer who explained that 1) the pay was better in gay porn and 2) once you've done enough scenes with other guys and a girl, you get immune to worrying about the other guys' dicks, so it was easier than you may think.

As someone who has had the pleasure of being one of the guys giving a woman a DP, you feel everything that other cock is doing regardless of which hole you are in. Even if you're 100% straight, there are some really gay overtones attached to the experience.

That's normal.
