Make up...why?

I wear makeup because I like the way I look when I do. Some others do too, or so they have said.
I don't normally wear any because I think with a little I already look too overdone but when I do, its usually for dates or special events. Plus, less keeps you looking more healthy and natural. My usual routine is powder, mascara, and chapstick.
I love wearing makeup. I actually went to school for makeup artistry. I never was really into makeup when I was younger until I met a drag queen and she let me watch her do her makeup. I was blown away and fell in love with it! I don't wear to much unless I'm going out, then its on!

Personally, I think you gals are prettiest when not wearing a lot, if any, make up and I can see the real you. So my question is, why do you? Do you feel better when you wear it? Do you wear it for yourself or for others? Because it's expected of you?

Thoughts please smile

So when she's kneeling with thoughts of pleasing you, wouldn't you rather see a bit of mascara on the eyes looking up at you? And a gloss on the lips she's teasing you with?

I love make-up but I prefer to use it sparingly and generally stick to neutrals and naturals.

My all-time fave products would be Aveda tinted moisturizer, NARS blush in 'orgasm' and all hail the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick (these are so multi-purpose I honestly think every girl should have one!). I would recommend these any day of the week.

Love mascara, lip glosses, juicy tubes and gloss pots (hate heavy lipstick or the tube-versions), mascara (I've used false eyelashes for special occasions and evening drama but not often), neutral barely there shadow. I don't like traditional 'eyeliner' - I use a tiny brush and the powder or gel form just for a hint of shadow.

Day to day though it's just tinted moisturizer, mascara, a quick dust of shimmer brick and neutral lipgloss. I like to keep it fresh.

The reason I use it - just to enhance what's already there. In my experience most guys equate the 'bare/no-make-up' look to a girl that is actually wearing some but keeping it to a minimum and staying in the natural tones. The vast majority of women definitely wear a little something.

What ever you do keep it up. You're gorgeous.
I generally wear a little blush so that I don't look vampiric during the winter. (Although I'd be a rather short, non-threatening type of vampire).
An old favorite story of mine: The Chaise Lounge
It is obvious because men look and adore the women who looks and feel good. But OVER MAKE UP is a big NO.
I could show you INCREDIBLE things...
I wear some but keep it minimal for daytime. I get a bit edgy with red lipstick when i go out at night. Though when i'm home... fuck the makeup.
I have always loved make-up, but I wear much less than I did when I was younger. One thing I can't get enough of, though, is lipstick. Love wearing lipstick.

Personally, I don't give a damn what men or women think. I don't wake up and think "I'm gonna wear teal eyeshadow because Michael likes teal" or "I'm gonna wear red lipstick because Michael loves kiss marks on his face." I love Michael but Michael doesn't know shit about makeup, and doesn't affect my makeup decisions.

The thing is, even if I'm wearing makeup, you do see the "real" me. Are you against people wearing clothes because "that's fake, you weren't born with that, I wanna see the real you!" NO. My body is still my REAL body, and accessorizing it and clothing it doesn't change that. My face is my REAL face and, contrary to common belief, doesn't actually change shape when makeup is applied.

Without makeup, I feel cute, adorable, fresh. With makeup, I feel more confident, in charge, sexy as fuck. I wear makeup for myself when I do wear it. Also, from my experience, I've never felt that I was "expected" to wear makeup. I am ridiculed or criticized by both men (like yourself) and women, left and right, because I often DO wear makeup.

The biggest misconception has got to be that I wear makeup because I'm self-conscious. It took me far more courage to wear black lipstick in public for the first time than it does to go out there bare-faced.
I don't wear make up every day, when I do it's minimal, mascara, eyeliner a bit of blush, nude lippy, when I was younger I wore lots of make up but now, I really can't be arsed most of the time , got more important things to be doing in the morning than putting on make up! My husband prefers me without it anyway, so I'm not really that fussed.
I must say, being that I was a tomboy growing up, I never really had anyone show me the girly girl ways,
being in the Navy, I had a friend tell me, I did not need make up, and it is a comment I receive quite often even now in my forties, yup 43 here.

How ever that being said, I love my red lipstick, and my son who is only 7 tells me that I look beautiful when I straighten my hair, as it is down to my waist...
and for me to wear make up... not that I wear a lot, but I do wear it well.

I always wear make-up.

I have very pretty eyes and will use eye liner to bring them out.

I wear eye shadow, blush and always lip gloss.

It takes me about 5 min or less to do my makeup. I enjoy enhancing my features. I will so subtle eye makeup that brings out my blue eyes, some gloss on my lips, and a little bit of blush for a flushed look

I am not a fan of a ton of makeup, I think it takes away from your natural beauty. The most I will do is a smokey eye for a night out.

If I accentuate my eyes, I will go more natural on my lips. If I keep my eyes simple, I will glam up my lips more. Never both at the same time.
A you-tuber makes a no-makeup video in response to her 100,000th comment.

It's a powerful video, well worth watching. It's almost at 3 million views in the three days it's been up.

For normal daytime I cannot be arsed to wear make up. And just some natural lipstick will do if I'm going outdoors. Its fun to put on some make up if I'm going out in the evening, or for a vintage do! More about dressing up than looking polished. I've never quite grown up!!

That's crazy.

And this isn't even one of those drastic, you don't even look like the same person, makeup transformations.

Wasn't even a marked difference between her face with/without makeup. People can be so damn cruel.

That video is averaging over a million views a day. I found it both heartbreaking and inspiring to watch.

A woman criticized for her problem skin tries to make it better with make-up and then is criticized for wearing too much make-up (with some typical anti-female bashing thrown in). Social media can be a cruel place for people willing to put themselves out there. It's telling as well that even in the remarks on youtube for that video, you have some assholes being assholes and insisting that make-up is 'false advertising' and blaming her - yet again.

I wasn't aware of her as beauty blogger before, but her site is really nice ( http://mypaleskin.blogspot.co.uk/ ) and I think she's a great role model for girls and women dealing with acne who can still put their best face forward with great makeup looks. She really is a beautiful girl.

Exactly.

You're either a fake with makeup or a hag without it.

Add to that the men who don't know the difference between no makeup and very natural makeup.

It amazes me how people can have so much to say about things they know absolutely nothing about.

I hate when makeup gets on my collar (innocently) cuz then I got some splainin to do even though I didn't do shit.
I look more professional with it, so I wear it to work or when I go out. At home, I don't wear it all though.
If I wear any makeup at all, it would be a very light base and lipstick. If I'm going out, I will add eye shadow to enhance my eyes. All in all it takes me about 5 minutes to apply. I gues the why would be that it does give me a more professional look.
