Playboy to Drop Nudity as Internet Fills Demand. Thoughts?

I m saddened by it. Playboy was a lways at the forefront of American culture. The best interview, the best stories etc and gorgeous ladies. It was a right of passage that opened the doors to sex and sexual freedom.
Probably a good idea in the long term. It will allow them to sell in more places and for people to subscribe with less bashfulness. I hope they still feature the occasional nude spread (I mean, 'free the nipple' and all...) but they probably stand to fare better competing against Maxim and Esquire than Hustler and Penthouse.

However, there will always be a demand for tasteful and elegant pornography. Honestly, some of it out there can be quite crass. I can't help but feel like one of the better ones is now going the way of the buffalo but I'm sure someone or something else will take Playboy's place and fill the void, should there be one.

I can’t think of a good tagline so this will have to do. Suggest a better one for me?

i really don't have an opinion on it. i'm one of those ppl that actually read it for the articles

Say. Her. Name.

I haven't seen a copy of Playboy for years - I thought it had gone out of print.
The girls were all airbrushed anyhow - natural is best.
Times are changing! It doesn't surprise me. I always thought that it was what you didn't see that made a woman sexy... cleavage, shapely legs in a mini or a long slit skirt, skin showing through sheer material, etc. Now with everything showing in high definition and close up plus the easiness of photo editing... it would make sense to me that people are more interested in seeing non-staged sex and nudity. But, I could be totally wrong. Doesn't the Sports Illustrated Swim suit edition outsell any Playboy edition? Maybe somebody knows that information.
People must really be buying it for the text?

As the Buggles so eloquently stated, "Video Killed the Radio Star." If there is any truth to that statement then I can't help but think that the Internet killed Playboy.

Not killed... Far from it, just forced them to perhaps be more creative... Guess in some cases, that's synonymous. (As semi-local celeb Trent Reznor said in an interview, he & his Nails band-mates can get a song out in minutes with YouTube now, but any idiot with a mic/cam can do the same & get a record deal just as fast.)

I recall perusing my Dad's at his place after my parents divorced... Recall them being equal parts celebs like Carmen Electra & pictorials of people I doubt went by real names. (Specifically one guy-&-girl pairing where one of them was referred-to-as/called "Nacho".) Only wish I could recall months/dates now, as feel it's a safe bet some P2P place has them accessible.
There is a second thread about this in The Lounge. https://www.lushstories.com/forum/yaf_postst46678_Playboy-will-stop-featuring-nude-ladies.aspx

I think Playboy is doing what they feel they must. I am sad they are changing the way the approach the pictures. I will admit to enjoying the "Rabbit hunt" on the cover. I think Playboy has done a lot of good over the years, and this change could either make or break them.

Either way (and yes... I said this before) I hope it works out for the best.
