The block feature in Chat Beta V2 requires some clarification and hopefully I can achieve that here.
By default, the block feature does not hide blocked members from you in the room list. This is two reasons. Firstly, see further down for the other reason, you may decide it is not necessary simply because nobody you have blocked is apparent in the room. If you wish to activate this option, and hide them, then you need to go to your settings in the room and move the slider over to the right for ‘Hide blocked users’ and perhaps refresh the room.
The block is not reciprocal, i.e. if you block me, the feature does not automatically block you back.
The design has been carefully balanced against performance in the chat rooms, and potentially the entire site, and the members’ needs. The development team have expended a very considerable amount of time addressing the room disconnects, to the extent that today they are rare, and the real risk is we go backwards and experience the disconnects again if we make any changes to the existing block feature as described above.
