Notes on the new chat system

Right I may be a little slow on the uptake being a blonde but it occurred to me that notes on this new chat verse would be very helpful.

From what I can see anything in global is across the whole network. Regional seems to be lush only but I can't confirm that.

I haven't checked how long a user made room lasts for yet but will give that a try.

I notice we all seem to have American flags for joining from the .com address.

No idea how to change that or if it's possible.

There doesn't seem to be a gender lock so there is some displeasure in finding men wandering into rooms that claim to be for women. 

For now that's all I got. Hopefully some others add theirs to this.

The chat room titles are tricky to read on a Note 20, so finding a room if you leave it is much harder than it should be.

In list of room participants, some names appear in bold. Not clear why this is so.

Men/men in couples in ladies room, not a good thing.

Hi Sarasilence - if I'm not mistaken (I could be) - the names appearing in bold mean they are located closer to you. The distance they live is closer (the mile you selected on your profile)

The new chat system is the same as the chat system used to be on the old mobile site. Except that there are a lot more people and more rooms. Yes, names in bold are those who are a "match", people who fit the criteria of what you are "seeking" in your profile. Lush now assumes (wrongly of course) that everyone is trying to hook up. You can get rid of Lush telling you about people who are a match by setting the criteria in location and age to be very narrow.

Edit: Sarasilence, you can get rid of the cams. Go to the settings (cogwheel top right), camera size, don't show. Also via the settings you can turn off the images.

Does anyone know if there is a way to save private chats, apart from copying and pasting somewhere? At the old site they were saved for a week but here they seem to vanish immediately?

When I go to a chat room, everyone I have blocked is unblocked. I can't log in using my older tablet. I can't stay logged in. 

I can't find my blocked list so I assume they're not ported across. The staying logged in was always a problem for me on a phone. Sometimes it's a browser problem so try another browse and see if that helps.

I created a room and now I can't see it. How does it work?

Depends where you opened it. It can be opened as a Global or a Regional room and either Public, Private or Invitational.

Global rooms are found under Global, Regional ones under Regional.

I haven't made a Private or  Invitational room yet.

I know we can't put it in an actual region just the Regional section.

Oh you can also search for the room name and it pops right up.

Oh you can also search for the room name and it pops right up.

It may have a similar setting to the old chat system that if you make a room, enter it and leave it assumes it's not needed and closes it. If someone else was in the room and you left it kept it open after you left. But not sure on this one as there seems to be a lot of user rooms just floating around.

ok, so i've been popping in and out of the rooms trying to feel my way around. what i've noticed in my trials is that i do not have a text bar present when chatting on my phone (samsung galaxy s9+). in order to submit text, i have to @ a person in the room. not too big of a deal, but can we no longer speak to the room in general?

also, when in a private chat my text bar is still missing. in order to carry on a conversation i have to click on the person's name and @ them each time. when i mentioned this they said that they don't have to do that. 

what am i doing wrong and does anyone have any suggestions? please feel free to enlighten me!

Honeydipped, as far as I can see, from your screenshot, you do have the text bar at the bottom of your screen?

If it doesn't work it may be a browser issue. Some browsers don't work well in chat. Duckduckgo doesn't load chat at all. You could try installing a different browser on your phone.

Mine will let me see the chat bar but if I leave the window for any reason I have to reload to get it back. I figure it's a power saving feature kicking in somewhere.

Also desktop mode on a mobile will make the chat bar stay put but it does make the text smaller so YMMV.

Hi! You can chat to the room. Are you using VPN? Try deleting your cache and cookies and login again, the the text bar should appear...

REGIONAL ROOMS (Lush)

We lost our Ladies of Lush room and similar men-only rooms in the migration.

We have simulated our old Ladies of Lush, but it is private (therefore transient) and password protected, which discourages women from casually dropping in.

We need the following:

MUST HAVES

1 Permanent

2 Gender eligibility options (e.g., Women-only for Ladies of Lush)

• Men

• Women

• Couples

• Trans/CD

3 Pictures allowed

4 No password

VERY NICE TO HAVE

1 Designated room admins (without necessarily having privileges outside the room)

2 Admins can authorise room moderators (without necessarily having privileges outside the room)

GENERAL UI IMPROVEMENTS

1 Announcements in the room text when people enter and leave [user option to turn on/off] (People really miss this feature!)

2 Option to order the name list by duration in room (most recent at bottom or top)

3 After selecting Mention for a user in the chat room, preserve it for that user so that we don't have to keep selecting Mention again and again and again to talk with the same user.

4 It would be useful to know the time zones of people, assuming they allow access to it, of course. We have users all around the world and it’s useful to know.

5 Allow users to select which room they land in when they log in. At the very least, don't dump users into the porn pic room Lounge!

6 Have a blocked user's text not appear to the blocking user in the chat room.

7 Have the blocking user's text not appear to the blocked user in the chat room.

8 Have an indication in the name list of blocked status.

9 Allow authors to reorder their stories.

10 When in compact display mode, long user names are truncated. Allow users to increase the user name width.

11 When multiple tabs are open the flashing tab bar does not have sufficient contrast between states. It should be very obvious.

12 Clicking on the tab of the open chat room asks to close it - this is seriously counterintuitive!

13 Flags should represent countries of residence.

14 Give us a decent Messenger. We'd love to have a good way to chat with Friends without having to connect in a chat room. This one is so lame. It's hard to read, and if we are also in a room, we don't see messages. The lack of quality encourages the use of other products.

I'll post this to the forum on your behalf. I recommend keeping an eye out there. 

Regarding the ladies room; we appreciate the comments that you have put forward regarding the Ladies / Mens Room. Limiting specific account types from joining a room isn't an option that is available on the current chatroom. However it is something that we can develop and re-introduce in the future.

The only way to restrict which members can enter a room is by having a room with password restriction. We have seen that some users have started this and therefore it may be the case that you need to contact the room creator to ascertain how to enter. Alternatively, you could create your own private Ladies / Mens Only room and share the password with those who would like to join.

Great that you have upgraded the system, but one thing I love to do here is chat with a friend. If I want to start a private chat with my friend what do I have to do? It used to be so easy. I would click on the profile, click private chat and it would open a window and we would be on together. I do not see this in his profile anymore and have no idea how to do it anymore. Also, will the chat window pop up for the other person to see like it used to with the other system?

Private chat is easy, but you both have to be logged in to the same chatroom. Then you click their name in the list in the chatroom and select private chat from the drop-down menu. 

I have to say, it is bizarre that a completely new system has been introduced with zero documentation about how to use it! There is some helpful info from users in various forum threads but it is scattered all over the place so it's hard to find.

Thanks Nicolas! Yes, Zilch as to how to use a very changed system sucks. And having to create a chatroom first to start a private chat seems a lot more complicated then the way it used to be. Also, there does not seem to be a home button in the chatroom area, so you cannot just click back to Lush unless I am missing something?

The messenger chat only works if both members are paid members. That's another thing that we weren't told. On the old system, a paid and non-paid member could chat directly, but here they can't. 

We should be able to see the list of who's in the chatrooms before joining them. Especially now that blocked people can see and interact with you in the rooms, and are told they are blocked if they click to try to see your profile. Stalkers paradise.

Currently if I create a private room to chat I cannot post pictures like I could previously.

It seems I can only do this if I upgrade. WTF

Why has the quality of service been downgraded in the first place?

I should still be able to post pics if I create a room.
