Trying to sport up your daughters?

Wasn't sure how to word this, so don't get me wrong! Hubby has decided that our little girl, all of 7 months old, needs to have a Seahawks shirt, sweatshirt, cap and little jacket, a Boston Bruins sweatshirt, cap and shirt, a Sounders setup and a Mariners setup. Is this a normal thing fathers do for their daughters? Besides, I keep telling him, she'll grow up cheering for the Silver and Black like her mother does. If she has an interest in sports, we'll indulge her, but it must be HER choice when she's older. We agreed to not push her in any direction regarding sports, but do you think he's trying to cheat, just a bit here?

I like the way he's thinking.

Normal, yes...he's attempting to prevent his beloved daughter from slipping over to the Dark Side. You, he married in spite of your addiction to all things Black Hole. He's a winner, keep him around.

Normal, no...he's attempting to promote a sense of fair play and he wants another Seahawks fan to sit on the sofa and watch games with, in season, as opposed to having to deal with two Raider fanatics under the same roof with him. I would do the same thing, for both yes and no.

What's normal? He's in love with his daughter, and sports. Sounds about right to me.
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
I don't see anything wrong with this! I would root for damn near any sports team, no matter how horrible they may be, just to have that time with my father.
She is only 7 months. Its not a big deal. You may want her to make choices but there is nothing wrong with a little guidance.

wow, 7 months and all those clothes. wow how much is he planning on putting out during her lifetime, hell just until she's 18.
You know your man more than we do, CQ. Has he mentioned "pushing" her into sports, maybe in an "I can't wait!" manner?

If not, maybe he's just trying to "show off" his daughter with his favorite teams. Don't worry; the clothes will be too small in a little while anyway. It always cracks me up to see toddlers wearing name-brand sports footwear (are they running a marathon or something?), knowing they'll outgrow them in months.
Silver and black all the way!

But in all seriousness it is entirely normal behavior for him to do that. But if she is a smart girl she will love those raiders just like mommy does!
He hasn't done any "I can't wait" type of things, but it just seems a little extreme to plaster the poor thing with all that sports stuff. I like dressing her up all girly myself, time enough for the Raiders (and UW!) later, let her be a baby for now...

Why don't you just pop out a boy for him so this looks normal? That way when you're out with her on the day of the big game and someone wants to know what your little boy's name is, you won't be caught off guard.

I agree with you CQ, dress her girly not like a advertisement for a sports team.
Oi!!! We are soooooo not ready for #2!!! He's happy, I'm happy, she's happy, we'll worry about child #2 some other day...besides, pregnancy is not fun towards the end! The glowing, compliments, happy wishes, uncontrollable nymphomania are all great, but ugh, that last month felt like an eternity!!!

Let the guy have some fun. Hell, anyone take a gander recently at what our parents used to dress us up in? I don't think it will sway her one way or another, but if it continues, well, she will have some fond memories of being goofy all dressed up in sports stuff and being with her dad.

Don't over think this one. She'll have girly stuff and the stuff her dad made her wear. no big shakes.
Seehawks, Mariners, Boston Bruins...I dont think it's normal, why so many teams?
Girls like Dad and Son's like Mom's! but at this age! It doesn't matter! it means alot more to you two!

Between her mommy and daddy, we both like a lot of sports...her uncle has even jumped in by sending her a Jimmie Johnson #48 shirt...today she's even learning about supporting losing teams by wearing her UW Huskies onesie...:-)

It sounds like your husband is really into the baby and that's undeniably a good thing. My biggest regret is that I had so little time to mess about with mine when they were small, trying to build a career and all that seemed so important at the time. Now they are grown up and I will never get that time back. Let him have his fun and revel in the fact that he loves you both.

can i speak as a daughter that only heard about one team and to support that one team. i prob followed that team till i became a teenager and decided on another team.

a couple of reasons why i chose a different team:

1) best mate like the team- she was awsome

2) we arguge with some guys who would win and scored there numbers

3) it gives me something to take to my dad about now and we joke about each others team

i dont think my dad brain washing me with one team, affected me in my decision on the team i chose in the end

p.s. but a ex-bf did drive me to hate the team he loved and the same team a friend plays for.
Dress her both ways she will either become a fan or not depending what she is exposed to I vote foe Eagle green
