I've been smoking cigarettes since I was 15. I'm 19 now and still do. I just do it to relieve stress. Usually shit to do with life or schoolwork. Especially with college it's freaking annoying. I have smoked pot a couple of times but never really got addicted to it. In my opinion if a girl smoked, I wouldn't care..just have a breath mint or something..smoking + kissing is not cool.

I have no problem with friends of mine smoking, and actually enjoy the smell of second hand smoke. I don't smoke other than the occasional cigar, and I don't want my partner smoking either, although I'm not sure it would be a deal breaker. Given my nature though, I'd probably end up nagging her to quit, because long term, I want to be with someone who values a healthy lifesyle.
Many a time a beautiful head of hair or a pretty face and bright smile has caught my eye and all quashed instantly when I saw her hand bring the cigarette to her mouth....

I have never smoked personally and I get the impression that it is has been dying out in the UK for a few years now. When I came to live in Austria it was a real surprise to see so many young girls smoking. For a country that prides itself on its health and fitness lifestyle, it just seems strange. The law on smoking in bars and resaurants was only introduced in July this year so it is too early to say if that might change anything.

The kissing an ashtray analogy is pretty accurate. It's not a deal-breaker for me, but it definitely detracts from the fun of being intimate. That smell/taste is constantly invading the moment.
Tobacco in various forms tends to smell best before burning, less so while burning, even less so after being inhaled, then exhaled, and worst as residual odor. In other words, if that smoke has been in someone's hair, mouth, clothing, etc. for quite a while, that smell/taste becomes worse with time.
There are various grades of tobacco. Expensive cigars and pipe tobacco are made from much higher quality tobacco than cigarettes and cheap cigars. Expensive cigars are pure tobacco, whereas the cheap stuff is chemically treated. That's why some tobacco might smell better to someone than other types. A cigar isn't always a cigar. :P

I'll be the odd one that says I like it. I think its just the working of the lips and mouths. Although, I will say any woman I've known that smokes cigars seems to be very sexual. Of course, I smoke myself. To those that say they would never be in a relationship with a smoker I think you are unfairly limiting yourself. It is completely natural to ask the smoker to make some concessions for you, smoke outside, make sure clothes don't smell, keep breath fresh, etc. etc. but a person can do a lot worse things than smoke and to rule them out because of that one thing might be keeping you from some great relationships.

Can't stand smoke. Tastes bad on her mouth, infiltrates hers and my clothes, I'd be spending the entire time she was smoking half holding my breath waiting for it to be finished. I know this is meant to be for guys, but couldn't help commenting! I've never smoked, and so always assumed I would date non-smokers only as I wasn't keen on going out with someone who smoked.
