I bought as I needed it. I hate to say this, but you really don't know how big you're going to be untril you get there. According to my mother after I was born she'd put on about 35 pounds, and it took her about 6 months to get back into "fighting trim" as she put it. I'm not worried about hubby though, the man called me back after I kneed him in the testicles, remember? He loves me now and forever...
Another question, did you simply buy some larger sizes as you went instead of official "maternity" clothes?

When I was pregnant I bought some pretty awesome clothes. So I still wear them and they look okay. I usually bought maternity clothes and you can always wear them earlier. They were from ealier in the pregnancy. Towards the end I was wayyy giant.
