It was interesting to read through this thread. I know a number of people who claim that women are more likely to experiment, but from what I am reading, it seems about the same percentage of guys are willing to try. Interesting observation. I've seen articles stating most everyone has some % of bi in them - which I tend to agree with. But to your point, society as a whole has two standards. But... I think if we had an accurate study on how many guys are bi or bi curious, people would see how big a % of the population it really is. But outside of anonymous (via an online persona) poll like this one, I don't think a true % can be known. Not sure if it all adds up to a hidden majority - but certainly a sizable % which, if known, might overcome the concern of being labeled.

P.S. I say all of this while being bi in a closet... lol... as I've shared in another forum question - it's simply too much risk with my wife, family, etc. Thus, I am a somewhat of a hypocrite helping to perpetuate this circular problem.
