I've had no sex with my wife for the past twelve months. We've been married 34 years and I doubt we've made love more than 20 times or had any form of intimate contact in that period. Really I think after a while one just gets used to it like other things in life which may for whatever reason stop. Not sure I would even know how to go about now to be honest. I still have my steak and chips and Fosters so life isnt that bad smile.

There are an infinite number of reasons why people don't have sex. Most times I would guess not by choice. However, my circumstances are by choice. I'm in a long distance relationship and have chosen to be celibate. I guess it is an act of love.

But, I know there are those that are alone for many reasons. Age, opportunity, self confidence, faithfulness, and morality are but a few factors. Sex is a driving force for mankind. Although the process is pretty simple and straight forward, the emotions involved are complex. At an animal level it is a bodily need. But we humans connect sex with almost everything, including love. Whereas love and sex are two different things, they are amazing in concert.

Not having sex is much easier than not having love.

Masturbation is a substitute for sex but I don't think there is a substitute for love.

Life happens. I have been married for 7 years and a lot has happened in that window, three children, bereavements, health issues, big life stuff.
