Personally I don't think anyone makes a conscious decision to be gay, nobody turns into a gay person!
I do agree, most gay men I have met are really good looking and take much more care in their appearance. Saying that, I also know a lot of straight men who really take care of their appearance and are incredibly good looking - I have also met some very unattractive gay men, isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder?
