My wife is interested in buying some vibrating panties or a vibrating egg with remote control.

I can only speak for the egg (but the panties sound good!). The egg itself doesn't do that much for me, the evil look in my hubbys eyes when he turns it on in public gets me going. We also found after a night on the town the remote stopped working (batteries were dead) and I was vibrating for a good while. We did have alot of fun later that night!!
I'm guessing a benefit of the egg over the panties would be the sound factor.
