I've only used a Feeldoe by itself, without pantyhose encasement (which is supposed to make it easier), and if you do Kegels, and have a tight pussy, it works at least as well as a strappie, without the annoying straps rubbing your skin all the time. While you work on those Kegels, you can use it with pantyhose, tights or something else for a little added support. In any case, they are far better than any of the traditional strapped models.
W have a Tantus feeldoe stout and love it...we both like girth and length..but it needed wearing around the house for a few days to really get to grips!
