Ok,
my big hobby is photography, and lately i have been thinking about shooting women in lingerie or nude.

how should i approach whoever i want to take pictures of?

now for some background on it

i am not looking for sexual shots, i am looking for sensual shots

they will be black and white, i love black and white photography

I have no idea where i will take shots yet.

also (a little off topic), does anyone have any ideas for some shots that i could try?

ps: i put this in here because i want the opinions of women, Mods, if you need to move it, please do

You can check on a website like model mayhem for models of your choosing and pay them appropriately for their time. They will list what kind of photography they are willing do (eg. nude, lingerie, glamour etc) and will have had experience in this so it will help facilitate the style of your photo shoot. I guess you could also try hiring a professional escort if she's willing to model.

If you're looking for a freebie volunteer... uhm, good luck. It's probably best to to hit up female friends or people that know you and trust you already and are willing to do you a favour.

Potentially creepy 'hobby' photographers looking for free models for lingerie or nudes would send me running in a real fast way. Without any verifiable credentials to your name, most women will find something like this a pretty risky venture.

I have a friend who was in a similar situation. He was not in a position to pay the models so he started with friends and was surprised how many women friends were interested. He mostly only shot lingerie and semi-nude photos. He eventually put ads out looking for models. He was not too successful in finding women that were willing to pose for free but did find a few. He eventually became confident in his work where he would have his models sign releases stating he would pay them if he was able to sell the pics. He is doing pretty good right now and has moved into video also and has made several independant short films (not porno).

There is this guy in NYC that goes around asking women he meets on the street if they wil pose nude for him. He has been successful enough where he has published several books of his work. Not sure of his name but saw something about him once on ET or Extra or one of thos shows. So if you are persistant, not creepy, have a good rap, you never know!! Good Luck.

As for me, if I didnt know the guy/girl, Like Doll said, Id run!!

We have a love of sensual photos. I had some black and white photos taken of me nude is a large bed with nothing but white silk sheets, they were very sexy but, in good taste. The showed a lot without showing anything, very sexy. I was able to share them with my mother. I am planning to have some couple photos taken showing the sensual side of love making, not the graphic side. I want to have them blown up, mounted, and hang them in the bedroom.

It all depends in the way you sell the idea to your friends, photography is one of my hobbies and i have done a few sessions of naked pics with friends and also models.

If you really are looking for artistic not porn like pics then there is a million ways of taking the pics making sure the face of the person is not recognizable, find shadows, positions of the neck and even putting something on her face. This will help you a lot on finding someone that is willing to pose nude for you.
Also make sure you really do it artistically that means no really close genital shots or really suggestive pictures in artistic pics you dont find a girl with her legs completely open and her finger on her mouth. its more of weird positions and different angles.

If you explain this to your friends and also ask them what they dont want you to do, im very confident youll find someone that will agree on doing it. This applies for models also most of them will tell you this rules before starting to work with you.

Good luck!!

Hi:

Well, I actually do the same thing...I shot what is described as "implied nudes" and "accidental nudes", I also work wit creative lighting techniques. it's very easy to get started, but honesty is the most important part. I posted an ad locally on craigs list. I received a landslide of responses, mostly from the 18 to 24 crowd. Arrange to meet your prospective model, so everyone is comfortable. You need to be honest in what you're trying to create. And you need to set up, time, place and any needed costuming. You also need a model's release form, downloadable from a million places on the net. Without a release, you can't use the pictures anywhere. Take your images and be certain to provide your model with copies.

I've made a lot of good friends doing this...I do not ever, ever, approach my models in a sexual fashion, even when they initiate it.

If you'd like any further instruction or have any questions, feel free to ask.

Ok so I'm not a girl but I am a photographer. I shoot glamour/art nude/lingerie and I have to admit that at first it was kind of awkward.
The best way is to try to find a camera club. I did a few shoots with one years ago. You will learn how to deal with your model..talk to them, make them feel comfortable and relaxed. If you can't do that your pics will be crap - end of. ALWAYS treat your model as a human being and with huge respect. Very few models will want to pose for someone who has poor quality images in their book. Most of the girls I shoot now are pro models. i do shoot private individuals on commission and sometimes I do ask women to pose. If you want to chat or want more advice please feel free to message me. It is a fine line between coming across as a 'perv' and as an artist. Never cross that line!

.

This is not true in all places. I know for myself I live in Canada and here a photographer can use anything they shoot in anyway they want. With or with out the models permission. SO LONG AS there is no "percieved perception of privacy" meaning if your neighbor is in her back yard with a fence. You can not use that. But if you are in public or in a mutual setting where the other person is aware that you are taking/could be taking their picture the shot is all yours.

I don't suggest just taking pics of an unknown subject unless they are general candids, but I felt as a photographer I should add my portion of knowledge. I have a few shoots lined up with the general idea of what you have suggested.

Setting them up wasn't that hard, unlike what i expected. I made the subtle suggestion one day that I wanted to do pics of that nature and friends said they would be interested. I have done one such shoot already and it was actually only supposed to be water portraiture but once we started the model told me she wanted to try something a little different.

Best of luck! And be sure to check the laws of your area before using my note about perceived perception of privacy!!!
