Loss of sex drive??????????

Is it true that when a woman has her ovaries removed she loses all sex drive and thoughts?
My wife of 38 years had hers entirely removed by a dumb ass surgeon 17 years ago due to a cancer scare.
Took her ovaries but not a hysterectomy.
Not long after that the sexually active "try anything" woman I knew lost it all. She just has stated thru the years
she never thinks about it anymore or wants it anymore.
Thinking it might be me, boredom, whatever I have suggested swinging, threesomes, groups, clubs even me
watching her with another man BUT NOPE not interested sooooooooo it has been a mercy fuck yearly for 16 years.
Don't want to cheat but it is getting to that point.
Your thoughts????????????
I wouldn't make a blanket statement to say it is true for all women but yes, the ovaries have a significant role in the control of reproductive and sexually related hormones and it would not be considered abnormal for a woman to suffer a loss of libido following oopherectomy, especially if the procedure is performed bilaterally (both taken). It can also affect natural vaginal lubrication which can make intercourse varying degrees of uncomfortable which would not really do you any favours in her interest levels. Sorry that I can't really offer any advice on your dilemma.
Ace, sorry to read this and I agree with sinners response. Was there hrt offered? Counselling? I don't know either of you but perhaps a back to basics approach with intimacy and affection, hand holding and massages may be more of an incentive than swinging etc. It may be a 'physical' change but from my experience it was the mental side that took more of a toll. I hope you find balance and happiness, communication is key xx
I think talking to a doctor who specializes in this sort of thing (so, a gynecologist, or even a reproductive endocrinologist) would be the most helpful. Even talking to a generalist may prove useful in at least getting information, if not a referral or medication.
