I don't mean graphically, but like you know in most R rated comedies guys are shown jerking off for comedic effect. I have rarely seen a movie that shows a woman masturbating in a comedic way. The only one I can think of is Not Another Teen Movie lol.
I think it's more implied, especially by showing the various toys a woman might have. For guys, the only "sight" gag tends to be the inflatable doll or the penis pump. For women, it's all kinds of dildos and vibrators. As someone else mentioned, it is not graphically shown. Perhaps a comedy in the mode of "Bridesmaids" might be the first to break the female masturbation barrier. Who knows? Maybe it's because the idea of guys jacking off in movies is usually shown in a comedic way. When there is actual female masturbation shown, it tends to be more of a sultry, borderline-romantic mood. At some point, it will appear.
Guys seem to be more ok with turning it into a joke. It's considered jeuvenile humor and a lot of guys are encouraged by friends or even family to not take it too seriously. Girls aren't encouraged the same way. There's a more mystique to it and some women don't masturbate, ever. I think you might find it difficult to find a guy who doesn't masturbate or joke about sex.

I do remember some movie about a family who moved and the cousin was at a friends house and they were caught using a dildo as a microphone. Later - one of the girls was masturbating and someone walked in on her.

The firs scene from The Invention of Lying is female masturbation.
