I joined yesterday, and it's been a great experience so far!
Thanks for looking.

And please be assured that there are genuinely nice and interesting guys on Lush, too.

Welcome to Lush!
Sometimes newbie girls are kind of seen as 'fresh meat' to a certain degree and once you get used to the lay of the land and get desensitized to the typical come-ons from guys and the jackhammer fuck-gifs that people will plaster all over your wall, you'll settle in and start having fun.
But yeah, the first week can be a bit overwhelming.
The main thing to remember is that you are in complete control of your Lush experience. You should feel confident about rejecting friend-adds or pop-up chats until you get to know the vibe of the person. Don't feel compelled to do anything you don't feel like doing. You shouldn't feel pressured about any of it.
If it gets too much, try going 'invisible' (the option is in your settings) and it will allow you to explore the site, read stories, post in forums etc without being seen as 'online' - this will help avoid a lot of the chatting attempts and let you set the pace.
Honestly - when I first joined, I sort of floated around for a bit, but then started to get more grounded with the more I posted in the forums and got to know the personalities of various members through their posts. It's a good (albeit passive) way of getting to know someone but then you can figure out who you want to be friends with or chat with from there.
