Great question. It is always good as an author to evaluate yourself and identify your strengths and weaknesses.
I write outside of Lush as well but I will answer this purely in regard to my erotic fiction.
I write about character making a connection. The important part of the story is what that connection is and how it is made. The sex is just part of the process. In my stories I try to make sex the physical expression of something deeper, be it love, lust, the will to dominate, thrill seeking, whatever. Finding that underlying motivation is what (I hope) keeps my stories interesting and different.

You could call the idea about connection I mentioned above a recurring theme. I have written a couple with an exhibitionism element because that is something that excites me. I keep my options open on re-using characters, but they have to have another story to tell. Simply having more sex is not another story.

I like to think I'm aiming for and hitting somewhere in the middle. I want my stories to be stories, not just descriptions of sex, so I tend to have reasonable lead ups (in most cases).

It depends on the character. I try to find each character's distinct voice. If they are quirky and satirical then the writing should come out that way.

Again, this depends on the story and the characters. I like to think I put in the minimum appropriate detail on a case by case basis. I try to avoid describing the obvious in favour of the unique and relevant.

Romance? Sometimes. Intimacy? Always. Even my quickie encounters and darker reluctance tales hint at a deeper connection that you would call intimate. Maybe I just don't believe in sex without intimacy.

Not at all! I take bits of my own experience and use them to build details, but never whole stories.
I honestly don't think my stories are erotic - they're sexually charged but not what I would call erotic.

I've only written four so far and, to me, each one is very different. Three of the four stories have involved affairs so I guess that's a recurring theme.

Yes, as far as characters...me...all but four of my stories are in first person. As far as recurring themes, I'd say no...I also have stories in more categories than anyone else on Lush at the moment.

Actually, my writing went through phases...my earliest stuff was either just sex stories or humor pieces about sex with no actual sex. Starting with story no. 22 "Mistaken Identity" I started combining humor and sex, a theme that continued and culminated in story 37 "The Queen"...my writing style changed again starting with story 41 "The Review" which was a response to another author's observation that "I never express feelings in my writing and probably not in my speech"...so, I thought "I'll show her"...lol...that story got analyzed to death when it came out...I think the comments were longer than the story, but it changed my writing style, my subsequent stories started to get more feeling oriented and romantic, especially starting with no 42 "Young Lust, First Lust. Sweet Devotion" which is the only story I consider "personal" btw...

I have only written two stories so far (It's Only Dinner 1 and 2) so we will wait and see if I end up settling in a niche. I am fairly certain that and lesbian love will make there way into most of my stories.
I have settled on the fact that I do not want to describe the characters in detail. The reason for this is I want the readers to place themselves or real life people they desire into these roles. If I said Jack was a 54 year old man with greying hair and you are 35 with dark black hair then you may fail to experience the characters euphoria.

I do have a few that are no series though and those sometimes pull away from what most of my writing is about. I try to switch it up every now and again. It gets boring writing one theme over and over again, sometimes a different story is all it takes to set you back on track.

I want people to really see what it is that is in my head as to what is happening. The more detail I can give, the better chance I have of getting them to that point. I don't give so much detail though that you get bored of the story before it even really begins.

I think when I am writing about real life things, I cant seem to finish. Not that my real life stories are not fun and exciting, its just harder for me to write about them. I'm the kind of writer who writes for his own entertainment. In erotic stories, I write to arouse myself. I try to find new ways, new characters, new situations to maximize my own lust. I love it when my readers tell me that they got so hot reading my stories that they pleasured themselves.
I enjoy or forbidden sexual situations. I want my characters to be conflicted, to have to deal with their morals and finally surrender to temptation. My characters (like Ima Hoarre) may be sluts, but I want to show how they became that way.

Most of my stories have the recurring theme of the “good girl gone bad” due to some circumstance that overwhelms her inhibitions and causes her to indulge her inner slut. I like the transformation of a woman being liberated from the social pressures and expectations of what a ‘good girl’ is supposed to be and giving into her darkest fantasies. I think a lot of women are afraid of their sexuality and where they would ultimately let themselves go if they removed their self-imposed boundaries and limitations, and I like to play with that theme.
