You beat me by one Lush. I have read Harry Potter, Memoirs of a Geisha (superb) and Bryson's Notes from a Small Island - terrific writer.

"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" was quite a remarkable book considering he had autism.

I like Bill Bryson's travelogues. He has a very down to earth way of writing I relate to.

The only other one there I've read is Life of Pi, which I really liked.

There's some awful dross in there too - "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" - had to listen to a co-worker going on about the movie incessantly one day

"The Da Vinci Code" only for me. The movie wasn't a bad attempt at making it accessible to the masses.

I intend to read Wild Swans. Thanks for the reminder.
