I was just wondering why there are a lot of stories as opposed to other genres. Thoughts?
I think it's because works best in written form than any other type of pornography. Group sex, anal sex, blow jobs, masturbation etc. works very well in visual porn because literally, they are filming these things. A dick going into an ass can't be faked. Neither can a blow job. has to be faked. There are no real brother and sister porn stars. So the viewer knows its fake... Something about the medium of writing makes it feel more real to a person that has an fetish. Simple as that. Writing is the best medium to get that fetish out there.
I find to be a huge turn off for me, but I feel this is the reason why it's so prevalent in erotica. From an outsiders point of view.
Simply put - it sells.
When you toss bait like the sort of numbers draws in front of authors, the temptation to bite is very strong. It's not as prevalent here, but in other places, any story can draw 10x the views, votes, and comments of most other stories without even trying.
I've always joked that you could slap a title with "mom" in it on a direct transcription from the phone book and get more views than half the stories in your list put together.
It's also easy - in a way.
Unless you're writing pure sex vignettes, you have to develop at least a little relationship between your characters. With , that comes pre-installed and understood without typing a word.
You also need to have some sort of conflict and tension. Once again, that comes pre-installed in a myriad of forms.
When there's a vast demand, supply is going to follow.
The question was why there are so many stories, and that's why. Supply and demand. If there weren't people lining up to read it, there wouldn't be that many people writing it.
Why is there such demand? Myself, I think it's because so many other kinks have been mainstreamed or at least put into saturation in internet porn. People are desensitized and need more of an edge to get the excitement factor they need.
"I'm so bored with bondage gangbang bukkakke..."
I gotta agree with Magical_felix here. It's because works best in written form than any other type of pornography. The other genres work well in visual porn because literally. The one thing I don't like about some of the stories (or stories from any genre) is when it's just sex with no build-up or character development.
stories are kind of a literary short cut. The very genre itself provides the conflict and drama that would otherwise have to be developed. If I were to write a straight sex story between two twenty year olds, I'd have to create a background that would not only draw them together, but do it in such a way as to make the reader take an interest in them having sex. On the other hand, I could declare them siblings, add a little dialog about them being nervous about being caught and viola, instant drama and .
I don't have a problem with the genre or those that read or write it. I just think its very nature makes it much easier to write in the first place.
The Demand theory explains why there are so many readers, not why there are so many stories. Erotic stories tend to push the edge a little, in all genres. Sex is a little hotter, more daring. Skirting the forbidden. I don't think that most erotic writers are cranking out stories for public consumption unless they are selling them. Most writers (IMHO) write what is in their heads. Many write almost exclusively , that's their thing. Other, who write across several categories, push the edge. And what is edgier and more forbidden than ? Sex between a man and woman is hot. Illicit sex, between, say, lovers married to others, has a sharper edge. And the edge is sharper sill when the sex is forbidden, between family members. Just the thought, the act of considering it, is to be considered a no-no. It is the prohibition that makes it irresistible. And so writers write them, with varying degrees of success, but basically in three camps - the lusty "this is great and there's no problem", the "can no longer resist, but this is so wrong", and the "my love surpasses the social barrier".
Well, THAT took all the fun out of it, eh?

I am bisexual and have written on gay sex as well but I get more satisfaction from writing stories
Everyone is entitled to their point of view. is so prevelant in todays society more so than we could think of. I'm not by any means stating that it is okay but its what has become to be socially acceptable.
You'd also be suprised by how many people get off on reading about . I am a father myself and I have no inclinations or have I ever had any inclinations of sleeping with my daughter or son for that matter.
To each his own -- we all have our favorites that we like to read. Just because I like to read lesbian stories doesn't make me a lesbian. Even though sometimes I feel like a woman trapped in a mans body.
It's all about freedom of speech. If you don't like to read stories that's why their are so many other genres to choose from.
I think it's simply because is the full bore option.
When you're taking the head off it, or in up to the elbow, and the gangbang with interacial Siamese midgets covered in peanut butter just isn't doing it for you anymore, you've got to dig deep. And is as deep as you can go. The limitations in the site guidelines are there for a very good reason.
But as a writer, I find the nature of it interesting, particularly how two people in that relationship could possibly end up crossing the line. The human condition, blah blah blah. And as long as we're there, we might as well have a pay off.
Why are there so many crime dramas on TV? It's interesting, it's unusual, to most of us it's alien. As someone who's actually witnessed some of the worst humanity has to offer, there's nothing entertaining about it at all, trust me. Still, we all tune in, even me.
My latest story is a racy little piece about what happens when someone cute from work invites you over to watch Netflix and Chill. Why is it so popular?
Free online is the only way you can read/write it - no publishing house will publish it for sale that I'm aware of. In fact, there are explicit rules for all publishing houses stating what is not acceptable and -sex is one of the main things.
And to read? I don't think it's as popular as you think.
is a niche - the relationship is particular (brother-sister , uncle-niece) . . . there are no other categories any of those stories will fit into. If it's - it goes IN and no where else even if it's masturbation, oral, quickie, etc.
However - on lush we have 29 other categories - if you grouped that all according to the basic relationship criteria you'd have: 'straight stories' and 'gay/trans' stories - you'd see that straight has quite a few more.
They're just subdivided according to main sexual focus like: straight-anal, straight-fetish, straight BDSM.
Excluding - there are 31,581 stories/poems on lush.
Of that - 4,121 are gay/lesbian/trans/crossdressing.
Meaning that over 27,460 are straight-sex, just spread out over 20 sub categories based on various specifics.
I know what people see, though - they see the high votes and the number of comments. That's because, in comparison to the rest of the site, actually has a smaller niche that's simply more emphatic.
For all the thousands of views any one of my stories receive I get only a handful of comments - and most of those are from friends I keep up with on the site.
I've wondered this same thing. I'm pretty adventurous - more so than most, I would wager; but I've never had this urge. And I don't understand it myself. But, to each their own as long as all parties are legal and consenting.
Hmmm, i was wondering that too. I think it is because is like the hottest genre on here. Probably because something so is extremely enticing

I personally believe a large contribution to this is mainly because of the intimacy during . You can't capture the intimate relationships between family in a porn movie as well as you can on story. An important component to in my opinion is the characters feelings towards the situation, and you can't really capture that during a movie or a quick video. Another thing is because a majority of the actors aren't even related, so even if they try and act it out, it won't feel like the same thing. It'll be a rare day when parent and child or a couple of siblings both agree to go through a porn route, and one that will be popular.

"I think it's a bit scary that stories are so popular. I know everyone has fantasies but your loved ones? Maybe I'm missing something, I don't know."
...from DanielleX"
DanielleX, those who write/enjoy stories don't necessarily want to have sex with their real loved ones. They are having fantasies about committing an act that is so enticing because it is so forbidden. Another poster in this topic mentioned that putting the 'Mom" label on a writtten work is enough to trigger interest and excitement. I noticed on another sex story site that stories receive many more views than those of other genres.
I write mother/adult son stories in the first person, imagining that I am a different person, a fictional person, with a fictional mother, in a different period of time. The thought of the real me having sex with my real mother has always been repulsive to me.
Where mother/son is concerned, such stories have the allure of heterosexual attraction combined with thoughts of extreme closeness and intimacy(e.g., Mother's undying love endures everything.) My big problem with many of these stories is that they so coarsely depict subject matter that should be handled with great deilicacy.
