I'm curious about this digital publishing and have lots of questions about it. I see that some big name authors have digital forms of their books listed there as well as a host of authors that are not 'big name' too. I guess I'm just curious if it would be worth my time and efforts to try to publish a book there?
Any information would be appreciated by not only me I'm sure.

Anyone can put a book on Kindle if they have an account. I can send the books to my friends. I have done it. However, getting it published by Kindle is another matter.
