Hi everyone!

I've been a member of this site for several months and have had a great time writing stories. It's a wonderful release. I've received many very positive comments as well as some very constructive ones, which I appreciate. Plus I've made a few friends and have taken some "writing lessons" from a few of you. Thanks!

The comments I don't understand are the ones that attack me personally. For example, some people have called me sick, stupid, foolish or in need of help, etc. But all of these types of comments come from "anonymous" readers. I try to consider the source and not let it bother me because everyone is entitled to their opinion, but sometimes it's hard to do. Not liking my story is one thing, but to call me names is quite another.

Has anyone had the same experience? How do you handle it? It would be nice to know I'm not the only one who gets personally attacked.

Oh! Have I had some comments! I've even had comments from fellow writers. My anonymous readers stand up for me. I get a laugh out of people who come on to our site, go to genres they don't like, then leave comments.

Thick skin, my friend. Thick skin. Grow it, wear it, and don't even worry about the comments. I write for release, and if people like my stories, then that's great. Glad I could get them off.

And Lush is here to handle anyone who is on our site and crosses the line.
Thanks ASP. I've had some anonymous readers come to my aid as well.

I like to think I have thick skin and most of the personal derogatory comments are read and forgotten about. Then a part of me says, 'Dam, these people don't even know me. If they want to hate the story, that's their right, but why make it personal?'

I'll have to get thicker skin and learn to embrace the constructive and positive comments while discounting the deragatory personal ones.
I agree with you ASp. The ones that go to a certai genre and then say the author is sick annoy me. And you're right that Lush will defend you. My story Kissing Cousins (though in the First Time category) was slammed. I just wrote back and said the title said Kissing 'Cousins' you didn't have to read it, and Lush agreed.
Bassguitar, I love your stories (and yours ASp) don't give those people any thought. Just concentrate on the fans you have made here and write for them as well as yourself.

I have to say that it irks me to see people leave rude comments and then hide behind the "anonymous" label. If I don't like a story, I stop reading it. Unless I have some constructive criticism for an author, I just don't think it's my place to say anything negative. I pay attention to the titles and the tags so I don't choose stories that might not be my thing. Honestly, I think some people just missed out when God (aka Lush...lol) was passing out manners!!

I am NOT a thick skinned person, hence the reason that I post often in the forum, but have never posted a story. I admire those of you who continue to write despite crappy comments from the peanut gallery!

Model Tease - a collaboration flash with a twisty ending

Sigh, Moan, Purr - a microfiction story that will make you sigh, moan, and purr

Dear Mistress Kat - advice on how to spice things up

Another Man's Wife - a true hotwife story

The Cocktail Party - a fun office party leads to more

BGB....It comes with the territory.......there is always going to be someone who does not like what you have to say but the way I see it is like this. I write because it is also a release for me and it makes me feel good. It has always been a passion of mine and instead of writing these stories and just reading them to myself and having them sit idle in my computer I am glad I found a place where I can share them. I have had some negative feed back and anonymous comments as well but I say bring it on I have a thick skin so I can take it......whether its positive comments or negative comments I have least provoked you enough to write to me and tell me......lol....

Cheers....

It seems to me that if you are a good writer, you eventually get bashed. I have read several top authors stories and they get negative comments as well. I am also a top author and have received negative comments; some of which I wonder if they remained anonymous because their real name was "stupid"....

I took a break for awhile because of the very same thing. I got tired of the crap....but the previous posts are correct, you just need thick skin. Happy writing!
Anita...thanks for your kind words. It's comments like yours that keep me writing.

Z...I agree with you. As time passes, I realize that I'm writing for my benefit...my pleasure...my release. If I can brighten someone's day, or make them somehow feel better about themselves, then I've accomplished an extra bonus. I've never mislabeled a tag and my titles are pretty straight forward.

Let the haters hate. Let the lovers love. Let the authors author. To thine own self be true...fuck everyone else!
If they want to hate the story, that's their right, but why make it personal?'

I think they make it personal because they think you are writing what's really true. That you do everything you write about. They can't seperate fact from fiction.

They probably still believe the moon is really made out of green cheese too.

What do you mean? It's not?????
Chef...If I actually did everything I write about, I'd be one sexually satisfied son of a bitch!...or, one sick bastard...LOL.

Unfortunately, I'm not a sexually satisfied son of a bitch, nor am I a sick bastard. At least i don't think I am.
Nah, yer not BGB. You're solid.

awww, thanks chef.
You're welcome, Hon.
I guess rate and runners are a pain in the ass. I am yet to experience it myself; for sure it's a matter of a few days. I have no idea why people read things they don't want to read because the subject doesn't interest them .

But things go also the other way. Today I read the story and it finished with a question for improvements. It had a lot of errors, so I didn't rate it (it's not like WDC where I used to actively review a year ago and where you can re-rate), but I suggested reading it again for eliminating simple errors, so everything would have a nicer form.

I heard back the author didn't want to win a spelling contest .

lol.
I agree with the others don't let it get to you. The stories I don't like I just don't read. Everyone has different taste. But the ones who get personal, I just ignore. The positive one makes me feel good. I haven't read any of your stories, but if I don't agree I won't attack you personally. Keep on writing.

I deleted that story. It didn't meet our quality standards.
Out of curiosity I would like to ask, are the quality standards only about grammar / forbidden content or is it also about if the story was good or not?
A clear explanation is made for the reason a story is deleted. Poor grammar and punctuation will do it, as well as not following the guidelines that have been set forth.

And welcome to the forum, Natalia.
