HUMOR! (insert gleeful and/or celebratory, party-type smilies)

Just one question, should a tenacle sex story I've been thinking about go into scifi/fantasy or, the creature being the protags incredibly ugly, groping cousin, in as I intended?

Done.

Thanks so much! Love the new categories.

Do you know when it will appear in that section? I see the category has already been changed on the story, but when I visit the Humor section it doesn't appear there.

Categories are all well and good, and the addition of some new ones may be a boon to some; however, the smaller the pigeonhole, the fewer pigeons that are likely to call in. Yes, being more genre-specific and specialist may help a reader find exactly what they want, but what about readers stumbling onto something they maybe did not want, but end up enjoying? Sometimes, the broader the category, the more diverse the experience for the general reader, and thus the broader the resultant mind. Just a thought smile

But, conversely and even more blinkering, when posting stories, I have often thought the following: it would be useful if I could choose two categories for this story. Maybe cross-dressing/sci-fi. How about supernatural/gay male? Or lesbian/milf. Just another thought...
"If I sign off with pithy quotations, ignore all preceding opinion for I am undoubtedly a fool. And if, after our discourse, I abuse you by proffering my vulgar produce, cast me into the gutter."
Some of the re-categorized stories are not appearing in the new category pages straightway. The cache for these lists are only usually flushed when a new story is verified.

Be patient, they will appear (eventually!).

Surely the greater consideration should go to those readers that might happen across something they did not wish to read, as opposed to those that don't really know what they are looking for.

They could always use the 'Random Story' button on the front page if they feel like living dangerously.

This is a question that concerns only Poppet and me. Does the addition of the 6 new categories have any affect on holders of the Omnium badge, and is so in what way?
Wow! A lot of my stories a mix of many categories. Thanks for the six new categories, from here on out I'll place my stories were they should rightly be.

If you want any help, let me know. I bet you'll surprise yourself.

Can I get some of that help too?

I also am not a very good poet and would like to get better.

There are some fantastic poets on this site: Laura lee, shy lass, frank lee, Delphi, and saga all have the power to touch me with their words. I'm glad the site is offering another way for the many wonderful works to be showcased.

Ah. Yes. The readers. I hadn't considered them at all, to be honest. I imagined they would look after themselves, are probably old enough and hardy enough to survive viewing 'specialist adult material' without being too shocked and offended smile

'Surely' or not, I stick by what I said: too many categories narrows the readers' minds... possibly narrows the writers' minds too. I understand how might offend and needs to be kept separate - as do its advocates and their resulting progeny - but other than that, I feel the categories need to be broad. One could argue that a love story is a love story, whether it's under the sea, on another planet, or between two consenting restless spirits. Why does it need breaking down into smaller categories?

Though I am speaking from an artistic (if that's not too pompous. It is, isn't it? Artistic is always pompous...) rather than an economic perspective, I can fully appreciate how more categories may well fit a more successful business model. Thankfully, making money from my writing - or from others' writing for that matter - will never be a major concern of mine :) x

Despite the above, another category just struck me: First time writer
Or better: brand spanking new first time writer
And another: Reluctant spell checker
And: Comma? Whats a comma? Or an apostrophe, for that matter?
And the famous: Story? What story?

Anyone got any more for the next round of nano-category specialisms? :)

Absolutely. I just need warning, as I'm not always able to concentrate. And thank you!

Normally I would agree with you. I've shown horses for years, and in my particular area, we have gotten to where we have too many classes and not enough entries. My trainer used to joke about the "Amy(or John, or whoever) to ride" class- meaning we dumbed down our classes so they were all one horse classes. If everyone is special, then no one is special.

However, in this case, we have reached the point where we have nearly 30,000 stories. That means that with the divisions we currently have, many many stories are still going to be in each category.

It's a fine line between not enough categories, so the best stories are hidden away and not seen, and too many, diluting the pool.
I'm excited about the new categories.

I'm all for anything that increases efficiency and makes the site more user-friendly and easier to navigate.

The new categories are awesome! Now we all can more easily pinpoint what we are in the mood for. This is what living in the 21st Century is all about, rather than spend lots of wasted time browsing through what you don't want at the time, you can find what you want right away. I am sure that readers will love the more specific genres now offered. This site ROCKS!

So we will not accept a poem in the Humor category, it should go in the erotic category and carry a humor tag.

I think that answers my question btw...I moved four stories into the "humor" category yesterday, but only one showed up over there until today for some reason...

I'll have to spend some more time with this soon, but it looks like at least half of my poems will have to be moved...and I have a bunch of poems btw...just sayin'

You know you want it, you know you need it bad...get it now on Amazon.com...

For the poetry picks for the month will that be just for love poems. I noticed that my erotic poem is now listed under December story picks. Is that where the erotic poem pick will go now if there is one for that particular month?

If any of your existing stories would be better categorised in one of the above, please move them in your Stories List Manager.

Where do you find this? I've check in "My Stories" but it just gives me movement, or editing, or hiding or deleting. The Category column doesn't seem to have a Stories List Manager.

PA, go to "My Stories" and choose the "edit" option for the story whose category you want to change. Then pick the new category and click continue and then update in the following window. That's it.

Time to remedy that.

How you manage to insult our readers, authors, moderating team and this site, all on one post, is quite amazing.

It's a shame. You are a talented author, no doubt, but your attitude really does need some adjustment (it stinks).

Thank you Lush Team!

There was no intention to cause offense or to insult anyone. I am an adult with carefully considered opinions amongst other adults with the same, not a naughty child in a classroom, and had a point to make, a valid one, I thought, and I made it in an ironic and light-hearted way. If authors, moderators and the site are offended, then I withdraw it unreservedly. As site owner, it is obviously your prerogative to assess my attitude and publish your opinion on it. There is nothing more to add but to say sorry again to everyone I have offended.
"If I sign off with pithy quotations, ignore all preceding opinion for I am undoubtedly a fool. And if, after our discourse, I abuse you by proffering my vulgar produce, cast me into the gutter."
Perhaps I should have made this an announcement post and locked it.

The move to add these categories was carefully thought about, and discussed over several weeks, by 50+ people, who help run this site (nearly all authors).

It is not open to discussion, for anyone's personal gain / attention.
