I wonder what the screeners who approve stories look for besides terms of use violations.

Are stories with too many misspellings, bad punctuation or grammar rejected?

A member sent me a story for editorial suggestions. I'll work with the author, for sure. But sentences with no periods, absolutely no use of quotations in dialog, and other basic lapses shouldn't be allowed. I haven't seen anything that poor, so I wonder what standards are used.

I suppose I could write something awful and put in gratuitous errors, but that hardly seems respectful.

If you click on the Submit Story button on the main page you should see some guidelines. This is one of them:

Please check your story for spelling, grammar and formatting prior to submission. Use the Preview Story button to see if all is well before publishing. Stories containing multiple errors will be removed.
Thousands of user submitted stories removed from the site. You are nothing without your users or their freely submitted stories.
Perhaps the reason you don't see stories here with a lot of spelling and punctuation is because they are rejected...
I think you answered your own question...

I would think it would be common sense to at least use the spell and grammer check button on your word processor before submitting a story...
But, what do I know?

You know you want it, you know you need it bad...get it now on Amazon.com...

When i was a member before- i submitted a story and it was rejected because of punctuation. Something about commas between tags and not using capital letters. silly me, how embarassing!

Yes, stories that are poor in terms of spelling, punctuation, grammatical and formatting errors are returned to the author, with suggestions as to what needs to be corrected.

We have helpful documents that can be linked to the removal notice, depending on the reasons for returning the story.

We also suggest that people ask in this folder for help in correcting their stories, and some of us also pitch in and help authors, depending on our availability.

Thank you for asking the question, and for helping some of the authors out.
